Style Crush: Jean Shrimpton

It's funny how so often when we look back on the fashion and beauty icons from the 50s or 60s that we remember today, when they actually broke from the norm of what was popular at the time. Audrey Hepburn's role in Funny Face is quite apt, because she was considered to have a "funny face" compared to other leading ladies at the time. Similarly, Jean Shrimpton nicknamed "the Shrimp" who went on to become one of the highest paid models of the 60s and a style symbol of that era, was initially found to be quite gamine and coltish compared to the more aristocratic models of the previous era (think Dovima). Shrimpton also made waves in street style; most iconic perhaps was when she attended the Victoria Derby in a mini shift dress with no hat. It created a media sensation. And it's those simple, 60s looks that I'm inspired by the most: clean shift dresses, kitten heels, minimalist jewelry, but loads of eyeliner!
