Wrong Way On A One Way Track

I've taken pictures near this abandoned train car several times, but I only recently discovered a way inside of it. It was quite a revelation to inch down the narrow passageway hoping a pigeon wouldn't fly into my face (as they have been known to do in the past) to discover this dining area. Despite some decay, all the tables and kitchen pieces are still standing. I know the walls are faded from age and neglect, but I find the soft seafoam shade they now are so pretty. I ventured from this car into another which turned out to be a sleeping car, but the space in there was too narrow to shoot with the lens I had. It was quite exciting to discover this new-to-me space and now I'm more determined than before to continue looking into the other trains even if at first entrance seems blocked.

You are one bold pioneer - both with fashion and with exploration! I would have never thought to pair two horse patterns together. Then again, I guess I don't own even one horse pattern...I must remedy this!

I love the horseprint on your clothes, it's playful yet also elegant! And I definitely agree with you about the beauty of the faded walls of the train. It's a great background for your outfit too!

mixed horse print? that's amazing! and this setting makes me want to step inside some old trains myself - I'm afraid I won't find anything this cool, though!

I think these might be some of your best photos ever, if not the very best! That train car is simply magical, your hair is adorable, and I have serious sweater envy :) Just lovely in every way.

How fantastic!! Its so cool that you were able to find your way into that train car. I hope you can take photos in the sleeping car. That would be neat.

And the cute horse ensemble you're sporting is adorable!! Love the sweater.

Cute outfit Rebecca, and I love what you did to your hair! It sort of looks like a hair style from the 40s, did you try that on purpose? That looks like so much fun, exploring around the train cars!! Do you feel like Nancy Drew in search of a clue to a mystery?

Yay to being adventurous!

The inside of the train looks really cool and your hair is so so pretty.

Happy Monday Rebecca!

Exploring new places is so fun! These pictures just prove it :) I've been slowly exploring my neighborhood. It seems like a lot of people are super into halloween, which I LOVE.

I love the combo of the horse sweater and the horse dress. Such a cute way to mix two different prints of the same genre.

I wish my hair turned out like yours when curled. Very cute!

@Anonymous, thank you! No, I just rag-curled it and wasn't sure what to expect b/c the short 'do is still rather new. I definitely got a retro vibe from it when it came down though. :)
Hm, I don't know if I feel like Nancy Drew...I usually just feel a bit nervous that I'm going to stumble across someone or some rabid animal. I like the idea of being Nancy Drew tho!

This photo shoot/outfit combination is so cute I don't even know what to say. I loooooove the matching horse prints and the brightness of your hair against that background. Plus the poses and setting just offset everything so well!

hi! i was just wondering where u got your rings from! they're gorgeous!

Rebecca, The Clothes Horse said...

@jillianelodie, the "love" ring is by lush, the opal ring is actually something my father got me at a small boutique when I was a teen.

I had to come back and comment again after I saw Jayma Mayes on "Go Fug Yourself" wearing the SAME SWEATER. I could hardly believe my eyes. 2 cute redheads in horse sweaters. (Of course, I prefer the way you have it styled but I think the sweater is darling either way.)

Rebecca! I love this post, and this series of photos. I would love to see many more shots of your explorations. Perhaps you might've posted them on your tumblog--you know, the ones without outfit shots in them?

I love how you contrast nicely against the gorgeous sea-foam green (I, too, love it) with your goldenrod sweater and horse prints... another study in opposition. Crumbling old grandeur with modern yet retro glamour. Youth vs age, organic vs manmade (organic, as in you, being human and all).... I love this post SO MUCH.

On another note: you'll be happy to know I'll be permanently (for the foreseeable future) in your old stomping grounds in 53 days!

I love this post for so many reasons.

First - your hair looks fantastic!
Second - I am obsessed with all things horse print lately and thus am completely enamored with this outfit.
Third - I LOVE exploring old abandoned things and am admittedly a little jealous of your fabulous discovery of the interior of an old train car. Amazing!
