An Education

This dress is one of my new favorite pieces; I love the color scheme and the jumper style. It's made from actual upholstery fabric, so the dress weighs a ton, but I'm rather attracted to things that remind me of vintage couches and curtains. The jumper style of the dress ended up working perfectly with my favorite sheer button-up and my vintage cardigan was the perfect layer. Without even intending to I ended up wearing a very school uniform-like outfit...if school uniforms commonly involved brocade.

I don't think it's schoolish/collegiate at all, even if the varsity/college sweater has that sort of style.

I daresay, you kind of remind me of something slightly 1800s (sans sweater). It's really gorgeous. I feel like you need some sort of oxford, a cap with some sort of feather on it, and speech with a charming accent.

You could also wear the dress backwards with a bikini or bandeau or tube top under it if you wanted to venture into more daring waters. I know that's not you, but the cut of the back straps do seem as if they could be worn on the front with a different top underneath.

I LOVE THE DRESS. You are so darn charming right now.

@Mae, haha you can't see in these pictures but it's pretty daring. I'm wearing a totally sheer blouse & no bra, so if the front straps slipped at all I was totally exposed (they didn't, thank goodness), but people still got an eyeful of side boob from me on this day. Erin even reblogged a pic someone else took & said "omg rebecca's boobies!" Backwards would require a bra and be more demure than this way. But I definitely chose pics where you couldn't see my cleavage intentionally. :)

amazing pattern & colours! I am also a big fan of any print that looks like it would be at home in a victorian living room. or on a wallpaper. :)

I love this! The jumper dress has such a neat print. I can't get over gold, so I love the gold swirling through the print. The cardigan is adorable too. Such a perfect look.

It's beautiful... I love brocade, love jumper styles, and love burgundy. The perfect dress! (except that the perfect dress doesn't exist)

I love the way you can see your tattoos through the blouse. Very demure and sexy at the same time.

That jumper is to die for!

p.s. I called one of my posts An Education recently, too. As we move into fall I definitely have Jenny Mellor on the brain.

Really love how it looks with the cardigan, and the back is really cute, I like the way the straps cross.
I also have a dress made from upholstery fabric, it's not brocade but this kind of fabric has great texture it's hard to resist.
