These pictures were taken quite quickly because I was only just beginning when a military police officer stumbled across me. I had just finished snapping several photographs in a row and was behind my tripod inspecting the results to see how I could improve the shots when I heard, "excuse me, miss." He decided to do his due diligence and questioned me about my business, inspected my identification cards, and even "called me in." But eventually he was reassured that a girl stumbling around on empty train tracks in wedges near her home was not a security threat and left me alone. Needless to say, after that interrogation (in which I gave the wrong address as my home address because we move too much for me to remember numbers properly when rattled), I was finished with the entire ordeal and headed home. It was really more annoying than anything else because I frequently have similar interactions with police officers and I know certain areas on military bases are especially sensitive. Thankfully, I've never had my camera confiscated...

So weird that they would consider you a potential threat! At least you look great :) That dress is perfect.
It's such a weird incident to go with such a pretty outift. I totally adore EVERYTHING, the crochet dress, the hat, the cute bagpack and your wedges!
Ash :o)

Beautiful outfit...i love,i love your dress!

Love that dress. It's kinda funny to me that they hassle you so much cause you're clearly not a threat! I was taking photos of birds while waiting for a bus outside the Pentagon metro recently. Photos are off-limits there for obvious reasons, but the bus was late and I was bored and these birds were awesome. A cop drove by slowly and eyeballed me, and then just kept going. He didn't tell me to stop or anything. Kind of ridiculous that they're more uptight at your base than at the Pentagon, where they kinda should be.
I totally had the same thing happen to me when I was taking pictures on a naval base where I used to live! The 2 police officers asked me if I was taking pictures for 'personal use' or for something else and I said they were for me and luckily that was it. It would have been cool though to have been taken in for taking blog pictures. Haha!
That would be awful if you had your camera confiscated! Good thing it didn't happen.
But, I do like this outfit quite a bit...I was also looking through some other posts of yours, and that cognac colored velvet dress...SO LUSTING IT RIGHT NOW. Hahaha, just a tad out of the price range, poor student all.

@My Hideaway, there are actually just as many essential things on military bases as at the Pentagon. The Pentago concentrates a lot of sensitive things in one place, but there are equally sensitive things on bases where I've lived...but not usually this close to my house. :)
Ohhhhh that hat is to die for. The cop? Not so much. I think I would have peed myself if it had happened to me!
now that's quite a story :) love the lacy dress and the hat but most of all, and i've been meaning to say this for a while, i love your new haircut, it suits you really well :)
Now I want to grab a hat, so we can have a tea party. Love how the backpack tones down the Southern Gentlewoman-ness of the rest of the outfit.
the things we do for fashion, dear rebecca! very nice perfect for autumn outfit.

Because you seem like such the little terrorist;) Geeze Lousie!! Well, at least you know they're doing their jobs. Or maybe he was just bored and needed to seem productive. Either way, great shots!! And I'm glad your camera wasn't taken away.
rebecca, how do you take photos via your camera remote when it appears that nothing is in your hands? i am dying to know!
@Anonymous, I don't use a remote--I use the self-timer. :)
So pretty.
surely someone so well dressed could ever be considered a threat?!
