Related To The Earliest Times And The Latest

There are limitations, but I definitely like to plan so my backdrops relate to my outfits. Just a small and sometimes subtle coordination between the two. Usually it's rather simple, because I take photos in the place I would wear the outfit--like a swimsuit at the beach rather than a swimsuit photographed in the middle of the road. Other days I just look for something of basic visual coordination. Case in point: an outfit of mixed prints and similarly styled wall. I have a weakness for chipping paint, there's something so charming and romantic about it--don't ask me what; emotional responses to objects lack rationale.

vintage skirt

"Emotional responses to objects lack rationale." This should be my life motto. I get so attached to objects. It's ridiculous.

I do adore this background. I like how it compliments your outfit without being literally matchy-matchy. The chipping paint echos the pattern on your skirt. Very cool.

I also have an unreal love for chipping paint/fraying edges, there is just so much character to find in it all! Lovely shoes, too!

I wish I could match my background to my outfit. I'm still to shy to venture out to do outfit post pics in public. Pathetic, I know ;)

I really love the design of your tote bag! The intricate patterns on the bird wings are my favourite part. Do you think you'll ever do a print on a bag of the bird tattoos you have?

Finding a print-mixed wall is such a clever idea! The classic patterns on your dress and skirt look lovely together as well.

I really love the way you sometimes wear dresses as tops - it's so unlimiting! And this one's a great clash of patterns. Also wanted to say I loved the podcast, although I was a little startled at first to hear you speak in an American accent (I always read your posts in my head in an English "accent"!) xx

I quite like the pairing here (of the backdrop and outfit and of the separate pieces of the outfit as well). Unexpected, but it works so well. Nice shoes too, and I know exactly what you mean about the chipping paint. I am a sucker for all things old like that...total romantic at heart :)

Very cute outfit! I too feel that there is a certain romanticism in chipping paint. To me, part of it is the knowledge that someone picked the color, applied it... and the world around it watched it fade over time to whatever rich or pastel patina it becomes later.

You know your effort to make backgrounds related to the outfits you are wearing really shows, I'm always impressed with the fact you never look out of place in what you are wearing (heels in the forest looks beautiful, but makes my eyes roll). I love this outfit too, the skirt reminds me of a scarf my gran used to wear :) xo

You tend to have the best backdrops. Interesting in your photos but it never looks like you tried too hard. I like.

Quite a delightfully chosen background .. I think the mix of clean brick and chipped pain look very fitting. Just like old and new, your vintage skirt and new dress !

That skirt is super cool! I love the print on it. Neat idea to mix it with stripes; I would've never thought of that! Very cool background as well

I love this look! You've worn it before, in a remix post, right? Or maybe it was a different skirt...

And that wall is so fantastic. I have a huge soft spot for brick walls, especially ones with different colors and chipping paint. They really are romantic. They should be ugly, but they're just lovely.

I adore this outfit. I have always wanted to start mixing different prints in my outfits but I haven't quite mastered it. I always just get frustrated and give up. But you! this is perfect. I will use it as inspiration. I have also been meaning to try out heels, but that is a different story.
