Guest Blog: Don Juan's Reckless Daughter

Hello, fellow Clothes Horse readers! It’s Meg from Don Juan's Reckless Daughter here and I am so very thrilled to be a part of Rebecca's guest blogger line-up. After all, she was one of the people who initially inspired me to start my blog way back in 2008 and she continues to inspire me with her every post. I honestly didn't think twice before I saying "yes"...
If you happen to have visited my blog recently you might have noticed that I've been on a bit of a vintage dress kick. That's not to say I've been actively purchasing new ones, but rather, that I've been dusting off the dresses in my existing wardrobe. This particular dress (circa 1950s) was a lucky find at a store I rarely ever go into but it remains, a year later, one of my favorites. At first, I thought it might be a tad long but I've since really grown to love the length. I keep seeing editorials and post about how calf-length is in for fall so perhaps I'm inadvertently ahead of the sartorial times??
I'm always looking for ways to remix dresses and I find that cardigans and jackets are an easy way to do so. This particular cardigan was fairly cheap but vintage-inspired so it seems to work well when paired with vintage.
I am also a big fan of mixing the old with the new - I never want to look like I walked out of an H&M or Urban catalog, but I don't necessarily want to look like I've walked out of a history book either. Finding a balance is definitely the key.
outfit details:
dress - vintage
cardigan - xxi
flats - urban outfitters
hat - thrifted
Well, I hope you enjoyed my little contribution. Thanks for reading! And thanks to Rebecca for having me! xMeg of DJRD

This is a beautiful outfit. You always have a great mix of vintage + modern style, so no worries about looking too historical/costumey.

You look lovely! I will definitely be checking out your blog in the future. Mixing old and new is so important in keeping things interesting. I like to wearing some really funky jewelry or modern shoes with vintage (or vintage inspired) dresses.
