I really enjoy out of focus shots and have been making an effort to snap more. It's hard to remember to do them because I change the focus manually and don't edit the pictures afterwards, but I really enjoy the result. As soon as I can convince my friends to model for me I'm going to do a portrait series in this style...

It took me a second to remember that I wasn't waiting for the pictures to load or de-pixelate...that they were meant to be unfocused. As I'm sure we all are, I'm used to skimming everything pretty quickly, but for these I had to stop and focus in order to process what I was seeing. It momentarily slowed my internet adhd. It also shifted emphasis from the details of an outfit to the broader components - color, shape, form, ect. They're like pretty watercolors. Really cool! -erin
They are cool even thought they hurt my eyes a little.
The fourth and sixth pictures in particular, where you are looking at the camera, are really moving. There's almost a sense of urgency because it can't be seen what you are communicating through your face. I would love to see a portrait series in this style!
A portrait series would be great!

I love the idea - it reminds me of a section in Woody Allen's "Deconstructing Harry" (great film, watch it if you haven't), where an actor (played by Robin Williams) suddenly becomes out of focus, and everybody around him has to wear glasses so that they wouldn't get dizzy just to look at him.
So beware, if you're doing a series of portraits, your viewers might get dizzy too! :P

neat idea, miss! and, it's okay that you can't accept the present- but if you'd like a bow tie head band or belt, you should tell me your favorite colors, because I'd love to make one for you.

I think if you do a photo session of your friends, when you pose them, poses that are made without them looking into the camera would be best. Just my .02 cents though :D
@AppleTreesRTall, thank you, I'm definitely planning on making them more dynamic than these (more heads than full-body shots as well). This series was really about taking my traditional outfit series into the out-of-focus series; but they're not the compositions/styles of what I truly invision. :)
Love this! It's a really simple idea, but I think the effect can be lovely! The second to last is my absolute favourite; the figure seems almost alien, or like it's fading away. The legs stand out in particular. I think that level of distortion is more effective than a slight blur (ex. the last photo), so I would suggest your go with that effect if you do continue the series :)
Also, the whole series reminds me of what my vision is like without glasses, haha
Oh these are beautiful! It's always fun to play around with photography. I've always enjoyed pictures with a depth and something out of focus...reminds me I need to get a better lens!
I just love this idea! And it works with your pale skin. Especially the photos where your hair and dress are catching the wind.

I am also a huge fan of out-of-focus photos. I feel like they make you spend more time analyzing what's going on in a particular composition and suggest a story that's deeper than what is on the surface.
