You Sit Too Long Alone

I just bought myself this lovely little blue dress and decided I had to granny-fy it. Or basically take a pretty dress and destroy some of the obvious beauty with things an old lady might wear. The orange coat also seemed so necessary as this color combination felt very Jonathan Saunders F/W 2011 to me. The coat is also new-to-me and I'm quite excited about it's color and shape. Warmer weather might be on the horizon and while I'm very excited to shed my winter layers, for some reason I'm still feeling very drawn to pretty coats.
Outfit details:
vintage coat
Clinque red, red, red lipstick

Love that dress! It would be ideal for a summer evening spent bird watching with my father-in-law. Maybe it would even disguise me enough for the birds to allow me to get close enough for a decent photo?

I've raved about the shoes before, but I LOVE that coat! I like the way it contrasts with your hair, and the pattern of the dress is gorgeous too, I love bird prints.
In fact I love the whole outfit...if it ever needs a new home you know where to send it! ;)

Wow! The cut of the dress is so very alluring.

Yet, of course, while you must have done your utmost to grannie-fy it, I think you were an utter failure, darling! :) You look so organic, spring-like and charming. You just need a bit of lace, really.

The coat is gorgeous. Very in with a lot of the trends I'm seeing out of Asia, but with the American flare for color.

Gorgeous.

I usually finding myself taking a very "granny" item and youthifying it! I love the combination of old and young. And some granny things have such a classic beauty.

I am so obsessed with birds. I draw them, I watch them, take pictures of them...ok that might sound a little creepy but I love them on fabric as well! The dress is perfect. Absolutely stunning. And you'd make one stylish granny ;).

Nice coat! I used to have a similar one, but my boyfriend hated it and called it my "Elmo jacket". Eventually I donated it to a charity shop to appease him. I'd recently thrown away one his old, gross hoodies, so it was only fair.

I love these gray tights. So cozy and cute. I tried on the cutest dress in Anthro yesterday that birds all over it. I loved it! Perfect for spring!

You are wonderfully poetic with your clothes. The detail photograph seem to me like a like a fair well to winter in it's old wool sunset, the doors to new life slightly open.
