Falling Feels Like Flying (For A Little While)

the clothes horse, theclotheshorse, fashion, style, retro, vintage, camel cape, twelfth street by cynthia vincent, cynthia vincent, fall 2010 trend, red lips, redhead, black velvet dress, sequin cardigan
I recently received this cape as a gift from the team at Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent. The cape is in this season's trend color: camel, but the real appeal for me is that it reminds me of a flying squirrel. This will now be referred to as my flying squirrel cape...rather appropriate for the wild wind gusts we've been experiencing lately (as you can probably see in some of the pictures).
I'm also wearing a new cardigan from Chloe Loves Charlie, in another neutral. When my mother saw it she said, "now that's bling-bling I would wear." Considering the fact that I don't use the phrase "bling-bling," it was quite humorous to hear from her. The sequins are definitely what drew me to the cardigan, but I'm was even more happy to receive it and feel how soft it is. All in all, these layers are keeping me somewhat cozy as fall and winter weather blasts its way into our region.

Your cardigan is so chic and your mom is right, is a piece that knows no boundaries. And the coat is another truly versatile classic. What's winter like where you live?

Great cape, I love that it has sleeves! I really like the sequined cardigan too. Seems very festive to me, but I always get a little scared to wash them!

You're right layers are a must as the cold starts to settle in. Although it looks quite sunny and serene in this pictures. This outfit came together so nicely and I liked how you played with the shapes and layers of this outfits especially since it's a neutral palette.

I love your cape!
Every time your wear your velvet dresses I am bit envious since I haven't found the perfect and affordable one yet.

Well, I agree with your mother! :) I don't like much glitter, but that piece is adorable! And the cape seems to be really warm, I like it!

That is funny. I had a bag covered in gold sequins, and someone's mother had the same reaction, but she didn't like it because it was too "flashy".

Nice coat, too!

@Morgan and Lua, haha! It was 28F that day with wind gusts of 34mph...I wish I was kidding/exaggerating.

Ooh! I love your cape and cardigan and bag!

With the holiday season here I really wish I had a cardigan with some jewels/sequins on the top. It would be so festive! Yours is just lovely. <3

And I love the name of your cape. I am forever giving my clothes odd names. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

hahah i love your mom's comment! sounds like something mine would say. but she is right- that is the kind of bling bling everyone wants to wear. i LOVE that it is mostly on the back of the sweater, since i feel like designers often decorate the front and then forget the back. great flying squirrel cape too :) ~joelle
