I'm really over the moon about my new dress from Modcloth. I chose it because Erin of Calivintage told me I look good in ruffles and I'm very susceptible to compliments. Upon trying it on I liked how it looked, but immediately knew that the shoulder straps had to be shortened. It's a common alteration I make since I'm petite (5'1") and thus my top-half is shorter than average. When I went look at the shoulder straps to shorten them I was so excited to notice that they're made to be adjusted! The straps have two rows of button holes. It's really ingenious and such a nice detail to discover--it definitely saves me a bit of effort. Anyway, after noticing that feature I was completely sold on the dress. It's a bit loose, but I think that works with the tiered style and it falls really nicely.
The sun setting over the water is really gorgeous and not properly captured in any of these images. It is a pity the sun is beginning to set so early though. I do love long winter nights with a roaring fire and good conversation, but I feel as if I accomplish so little when it gets dark so quickly. The days just seem to flash by like fireflies flickering in their passing.

I feel the same way.. The days are so short here in Norway now, and it's actually pretty much pitch black outside now - and it's only 5.30 p.m! I feel like I don't have time to do anything, and it's almost "evening" before I finish my usual pot of coffee.
That said; I do like to see you in ruffles too! I must admit I never knew you were 5'1", as you appear taller than that in your pictures! :)
You do indeed look good in ruffles. These are quite chunky ruffles too, so it isn't overly girly. Lovely choice.

@Brie, I wasn't attempting to be deceptive, b/c then I would have left the "courtesy of" out of the outfit details. I said bought b/c I received a gift card and then bought it with the gift card money. I can change the terminology if it offends, but it wasn't there to be deceptive or misleading. I've never sought to hide that I occasionally get pieces for free (or even specifically that this piece was c/o a gift card).
@Mich, I'm afraid I don't understand your question. I think the "white" part you're referring to is just the sky in the images and honestly, it just gets washed out when the focus is in the foreground.

@Brie, I can understand where you're coming from and I'll try to be more careful in my writing in the future; it really was a "slip of the tongue" or type. I also still shop at Modcloth and other stores that sponsor me (I've bought as many Seychelles shoes as I've been given)--with my own money not just gift cards, but I always try to disclose things properly at the end of the post in the details section, just in case the text was confusing b/c the text usually isn't really focused on sources anyway. I'm sorry you feel that bloggers are being dishonest, but it's never been my intent to hide things and most of the bloggers I read are upfront about the sources of their wardrobes as well.
And yeah, while it's not exactly a fun topic, I'm not embarrassed to admit my text was misleading or address the source of pieces of my wardrobe. As long as criticisms are put forth politely I don't mind hearing and accepting them. :)
