Wilderness Is A Necessity Of The Human Spirit

the clothes horse, flower headband, floral wreath, bow print dress, blue dress, waterhouse painting, preraphaelite, fashion, style, retro, vintage, redhead
We don't have many trees on this base, but the ones we do have are twisted and shaped by the ocean winds. They all slant together in the same direction and the branches are these lovely swooping shapes that are perfect for climbing. After awhile cooped up indoors or on the road, I just want to go outside and commune some with nature (although the ridiculous number of bug bites I am acquiring are making me feel less inclined to venture outdoors). My hair big and wavy like this also makes me feel like a John William Waterhouse subject and thus mystical wilderness feels like the most appropriate setting...

You are sooo pretty, Rebecca! And you always dress perfectly for your smaller stature, never drowning it out (I'm 4 foot 10 myself, so I notice these things! :P). Thanks for being a personal icon!

@Anonymous #2, I studied Business & Marketing at a Christian college in PA. I don't share the name of my college online; if you're dying of curiosity I will share it in an e-mail.

Spectacular photos Rebecca, you remind me of Waterhouse's "Lady of Shallot" painting!! Were you inspired by that look?

Outofseasonface said...

I always love when you post pictures when you're up in trees, mainly because you always remind me of a wood nymph :). Does climbing on those trees make it harder for you to take photos? You probably love the challenge!

Charmalade said...

Major props to you for two things: your hair is a thing of wild, mystical beauty, it looks like it's on fire. And another for your photos taken in trees-- I imagine that you're using the self-timer? And then running back and forth up and down trees? If that's what you do, snaps for Rebecca!

So ethereal! I think it's the trees, the hair, and the dress that really do it.

More blue <3 and the flowers in your hair are adorable, you look like a forest spirit girl!

Rebecca, The Clothes Horse said...

@Anonymous 6:52PM, the hair just sort of happened naturally when I decided to brush out my rag curls. After I saw how it looked I felt like a Waterhouse lady, but no particular one--the crown just seemed a good match to the hair. :)

i cant get over how you use your tripod and still manage to climb in and out of trees! amazing!

WOW, I am honestly in love with these photos. You look absolutely gorgeous. I love the flower wreath and the print on your dress is adorable. You look like a forest nymph or something climbing in the trees haha.

Love the setting and the outfit! That hair wreath is stunning, and I love your hair all big and wavy like that.

I wish we had trees like that around here..we have some huge trees, but they all grow straight. No lovely gnarled branches to be had at all.
