Among The Untrodden Ways

the clothes horse, style, fashion, retro, black dress, black tights, nine west booties, desert boots, redhead, gold rings, fall, autumn
We had a grey, overcast day and I immediately, excitedly threw on a jacket and tights. It was still a little too warm for all the layers. As much as I enjoy sitting in the sand and sun, I am feeling ready for autumn layers and changing leaves. Or perhaps I just excited to move into a home and start baking fall sweets in the kitchen?
While I gripe here about my lack of clothing options from suitcase living, there are really a number of factors leading to current restlessness. In truth, I've lived out of two suitcases for longer (while I studied abroad in Japan and Greece). Yet, in both instances I was able to "settle in" a bit; to unpack, to cook my own food in a kitchen, leave books and papers scattered about and generally get comfortable. With constantly changing surroundings and an endless string of forgettable hotel rooms all the comforts of home are erased. Your are forced to be prepared for flight at any moment. In the end, that is what is tiring: not the new places, not the limited clothes, but the constant need for readiness and the lack of a permanency. I can move frequently, but I prefer to go and experience a place for several months. I love moving, but can the movie time (time on the road) be shorter next time around...?

I have moved everywhere too from country to country, state to state, city to city! It's fun to experience so many different cultures and make new friends, but there's still something nice about being able to actually stay somewhere for a good few years and "grow up" with people you care about. I love that the internet is around for people like us! I think I'm pretty much settled where I am now, being a newly wed! :)

I love the outfit as always! It's been raining a lot here in the east coast. Boots, tights, and jackets are great for this weather!

I love, love the shoes, they look so comfy! I've never really moved that far away from home and I'd love to up and move away to a new place. A change of scenery is sometimes exactly what you need!

I love your posts and just wanted to let you know that your pictures no longer show up in my RSS feeder (Google Reader). Any way this could be fixed? I miss out on a lot of good posts because of this.

You look good. Love the hooded leather jacket.

Lack of permanency (or lack of rest, even just for a moment) is so taxing. Hopefully your life will settle down soon.

Well, I can't imagine moving around places often, had to pack and unpack, which I hate the most from traveling. And living out of two suitcase sounds really hard for me :)

Anyway, I love those rings and your shoes.. Great look!

I've just moved to Germany so am living out of two suitcases and I really did not pack well at all. Fighting the temptation to go shopping all the time! I hope you'll get to settle soon.

Oh, tell me about it. Currently me and my suitcase are camped out at a freind's apartment while I unsuccessfully search for my own. Like you say, the difficult bit is not being able to unpack/scatter things around. I'm going crazy!

I like the color of that jacket with your hair. I can sympathize with your moving situation. I love being in new places but hate the moving process, especially when it's drawn out. Surely, your new home will be ready for you soon. Also, weird that you have such different weather. I'm not too far north of you (I think), and it's in the 50s here and windy, actually a bit chilly!

i dont know how you do it .. im not much of a traveler .. so what you describe sounds bad for me .. i guess even someone who loves to travel the constant change is a bit much .. you look great by the way !

the gloominess of these photos kind of resonates with your old setting. How close are you to the ocean now?

I really love that dress! And I wish I had your shoes! So pretty!! <3

My big sister actually recently got a jacket very similar to that one. I love bomber jackets - they've got a bit of a masculine flair, which makes them so perfect for pairing with feminine dresses and skirts. :)
