On our way to Rome we hopped off the train and spent a whirlwind day in Florence. After all, you can’t really visit Italy and miss a sighting of the David, no? That statue was quite as majestic as described, in fact the entire city is quite stunning.
I was rather reminded of a long weekend I spent in Budapest with a friend when we were both studying in Greece. Despite freezing cold and snow, both her and I were quite enthralled by the city and couldn’t really describe why. What we enjoyed most was walking around and admiring the buildings; which was odd because the weather was the inhospitable for such wanderings. Florence was a bit like that, but with balmy temperatures and bright sunlight…sometimes you don't even want to have a specific destination in mind, you just want to experience a place.

I have never been to Florence but it looks utterly beautiful. Great frock too
Oh, Florence. Such a beautiful city! Your photos are making me long to return. I agree that it's sometimes best to just experience a place, sans destinations. It's times like that which allow you to discover something you may not have otherwise!

Do you ever feel that you might perhaps be living in an Audrey Hepburn film?
I love these photos. you look amazing, and I can't wait to see more.
I'm sad you can't guest post, either, but I understand. I may have you guest post just because sometime. Both your writing and photos I admire greatly.
Continue with this sweet life of travel, darling! Be safe!

Your photos are amazing-- I love how you caught how the sun just hits Brunelleschi's Dome. My other favorites have to be the silhouette of the bust and the carousel (I'm always a sucker for carousels). It looks beautifully entrancing.
I'm also a sucker for polka dots, that dress is so cute on you!

oh i love this dress! im trying to make one very similair in this shape and a slightly greener spot print. I hope it turns out as beautiful as this dress your wearing :) x
yea, there's definitely a big difference between visiting a destination and really experiencing a place. When you go just to say you did, I feel like you're missing the point of travel. Its those moments you're utterly enthralled that make it worth it
You look so lovely
And it looks absolutely magical!!
Perfect for exploring
*jaw drops* Florence is SUPERB! I am so jealous! And I'm digging the polka dots.

Totally agree! The Ponte Vecchio at night time was always our favourite place to just chill, sit by the river and listen to live music.

Aww Florence! Were you in Arezzo for a train transfer? They have a beautiful church there as well.
Florence sounds and looks magical. Love the dress!
Lovely photos of the duomo. Great light and composition. I'm excited to hear what you think of Rome. It's such a busy and beautiful place:)

I've been waiting for your Florence post! :) It was by far my favorite stop while I was in Italy. I'd return in an instant to let it fill my heart again.
you are such a good photographer. i bet you have a million pics from this trip!
your photos are so beautiful and they make me ache for florence. i spent nearly two months there at the beginning of the summer. our apartment was right near santa croce. love santa croce.... gah! ;)
This may sound weird but... I like your language:) Because I'm Russian and I'm learning English, I always pay attention to the words that people choose for their blogs, the way they speak about things. I really enjoy reading it!
amazing! The sun and shadows on the buildings are beautiful.
I had >the most amazing holiday in florence this year with some friends. it's such a beautiful city, and the atmosphere is nothing else.

Great pictures! I totally agree about 'experiencing' a place. Sometimes it's best to just go and enjoy a place for what it is...as opposed to having a plan! I love to just take in all a city has to offer. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Lucky you, being in Florence!
I just had a tour at your journeys posts and had much fun! Great pics and lovely outfits of course! It seems you had fun in Europe. :)
I just had to comment on this since Florence is a nearby town from the town I leave (Bologna) and have been there many times, and I expecially know well its railway stations! I live in the north of Italy, but my hometown is in the centre, near Rome, so I am always passing by from Florence and say bye bye. But your last two pics made me lol! That place is my best friend's hometown and I've been there so many times I can't count it. It was really funny to see you in a place (a railway station!) I've been as well. Awesome!
