Meandering Through Montmartre

the clothes horse, paris, france, montmartre, french, yellow pencil skirt, leather skirt, button down, fashion, style, retro, vintage, redheadThe other day my sister and I went on a little self-guided walking tour of Montmartre. Translation: my sister guided and I walked. I'm not working on some fantastic Paris guide, because frankly my two weeks experience makes me anything but an expert and there are loads of other bloggers more qualified to do so. I do however, recommend a walk through Monmartre if you have the time. It's a very picturesque neighborhood that still retains some of its bohemian history.
This skirt was a near not-purchase and I'm so glad I ended up buying it because it has been such a useful piece. Yes, useful. I find it so great to remix with because the structure allows for floaty dresses to be layered underneath (I think I've worn it in nearly every remix post I've done!). I nearly didn't purchase it because despite the $5 price tag, who really needs a yellow leather skirt? It's such an odd item in many ways and quite unlike the majority of my wardrobe...but well, I suppose my closet is getting more varied and less cohesive as time goes on. Variety is a good thing.

Wait, did your hair get redder? You look really stunning here, honestly. Love the hue of the skirt as well.

I guess everyone needs a yellow leather skirt! ;)
Great outfit. Love the contrast between your skirt, top, and hair! You make me want red hair so bad!

Lovely pictures! I was in Paris this weekend, and was staying in Montmartre (Place de Clichy) so we might've passed each other without realising! I'm glad you're having such a lovely time :)

Montmartre! Though I'm a far cry from ever having been to that place, I've always loved the decadent bohemian history that swirls around it. Toulouse-Lautrec, Moulin Rouge, etc... and now I have "Nature Boy" stuck in my head. :) Isn't it wonderful how surprisingly versatile some clothing can be? I think that leather skirt is the perfect shade of mustard yellow.

I love it when an item proves to be a good buy in the end! You look wonderful here, as always. And these photos of Montmartre during the day are lovely. When I went it was in the evening, and a group of girls and I sat on the steps of Sacre Coeur eating pastries and chocolate and enjoying the view of the city. We passed the cafe that was used in Amelie while we were walking around too. Montmartre looks very different at night!

You did great when buying the skirt, it suits you so well.

Actually you're not far from our atelier, we are in rue faubourg Montmartre (you should have told us, we would have been so glad to meet you). These days we are outside for the shooting of our new collection, and we thaught about taking the pictures in Montmartre... but well, we went elsewhere ;)
If ever you have some time, you should walk around the Marais, rue Vieille du Temple, eat an icecream at Amorino, walk through the carré St Paul, around Place des Vosges, Bastille...
Or walk around Gare de l'Est, it's very ethnic, than walk to Rue Lafayette, around Saint Vincent de Paul, towards Opéra...
And you're right, Paris is the best when you can discover it walking through...

Hope you enjoy your stay...

Montmartre is really beautiful and lots of familiar sights that you shot. But I love the outfit post against that wall and thr red graffiti, really compliments the tones of your outfit/hair/lips!

When I visited Montmartre a few summers ago, there was a theatre troupe putting on a shop for kindergarteners. Despite the language barriers, it was one of the funniest things I've seen and one of my fondest memories of France.

Beautiful post. I loved Montmartre when I visited paris.
I was wondering, How do you get all of your pictures to have their edges line up so perfectly when they are different sizes?

Rebecca, The Clothes Horse said...

@missamy, when you put them in blogger edit the post html and change all the picture widths to the same. I delete the height part entirely and those will automatically adjust w/o distorting your image.
