Summer's Lease Hath All Too Short A Date

the clothes horse, personal style, fashion blog, blue dress, silk dress, seychelles shoes, heidi braids, milkmaid braids, redhead, retro, vintage, navy blue, summer
Bright, sunshine-y days are few and far between here in old Washington, but I'll take them as I get them. When the sun does appear I know it's time for one of my little blue dresses; I'm getting a little collection started. This particular dress is a nice, lightweight stunner and so perfect for summer weather...I'll probably get more wear out of it once I leave Washington.
On that subject I can officially announce a few things: my parents are moving across country to Virginia and I will be joining them there (my law school of choice is allowing me to defer for a year while I wobble). Before that (and still later this summer) I will be going off on an adventure with one of my sisters...and I'm still keeping the destination slightly secret. I think I will announce it in my first speaking video...maybe...eventually. My only experiences of Virginia are driving through it on to other destinations, so I'm excited to experience that state for awhile. Hopefully there will be good vintage stores and estate sales there!
All in all, my summer is going to be quite busy...

I've never been to Virginia, but the weather in Washington looks heavenly. Have fun on your next adventures across the country and I look forward to seeing your little blue dress collection grow.

I would just like to add that it must feel odd to have people want to know so many intimate details about your personal life!

Where in Virginia are you moving? I'm in Richmond and would love to make reccomendations and such if you'd like. Look me up! Warning: It's HOT and HUMID here. It's supposed to be 99 this weekend and it's been above 90 nearly for 2 weeks straight and it's only June. You'll need more of those light summer dresses!

Pre-welcome to Virginia, lots of antique shops, but one has to dig around for the vintage.

I'm from Virginia! :) I rather love it there--it's a really diverse state. If you need any recommendations of thrifting/antiquing in northern VA (or even down in the Norfolk/Hampton area), feel free to email me! :)

I adore that bag you're carrying in the pictures--so lovely!

thats great moving all the way to virginia. I lived in that state when I was younger, its beautiful! :-)

Oooh, I quite like this outfit. You've got a really nice summer look going on here... Although I really like bright and colorful pieces especially for summer, lately I've just been sick of it. So, what I'm saying is, I like how you've made a summery outfit out of navy and burnt red. Your bag is lovely. And how exciting you'll be moving to Virginia! I bet they have amazing thrift shops over there. I'm sure you'll let us know. :]

Aww, I'll miss your Washington shenanigans. It's always been nice seeing a blogger who's based in the Pac NW instead of NY or LA.

But I hope you have fun in Virginia. :)

I have the same experience with Virgina although I have driven around it quite a bit. I'm sure they are bound to have some amazing thrift/vintage shops! when do you move?

PS: great news about the law school letting you wobble!

The combination of blues in that dress are super good. Why isn't it warm and sunny here in Portland? Oh wait it is... kinda.

Wow, these pictures are just beautiful Rebecca. The colour is just so amazing. And that dress IS perfect. Love it with the shoes. And the bag is so perfect with the navy blue (not to mention with your hair!).

Excited to see Virgina pics! Also, I think it is cool that you can just up and move like that and be so okay with it! I would be a mess! But then again, I have lived in the same city my whole life (and intend on keeping it that way!).

I'm from Virginia! I live in Northern VA when I'm not going to school in Blacksburg (which is in the Shenandoah mountains... lots of wilderness there for your photo adventures!)

And I guess it depends on what part of VA you'll be moving to, but if you're in the Northern area, DC has some great vintage finds that are just a metro ride away.

have a lovely summer! this blue dress is stunning and i truly love and want that quilted handbag.

we only have hot and muggy or hurricane-like stormy summer days. It's never just in the high 70's with a slight cloud cover and breeze. I guess asking for that kind of weather is impossible, and I may never be satisfied with the weather.
