Quivers In The Sunny Breeze

I was "saving" my sequin, vintage cape to wear this summer over floaty dresses, but since I'm beginning to doubt the existence of summer I decided to mix it up with jeans and a tee instead. It's good to try a different look every now and then; like wearing one of the several pairs of jeans I own that don't get much attention. When I was in high school I used to wear jeans every day, not because I liked them but because I was self-conscious of my pale legs! Around my senior year I got over that silliness and started to actually wear clothes I enjoyed. Despite the fact that I am in jeans, this is definitely an enjoyable outfit to me. It feels more casual and eclectic than my usual looks; like a spring breeze after a winter spent locked up indoors.

Outfit details:
vintage cape
H&M shirt
Stadium Swapmeet necklace
Cheap Monday jeans
Seychelles heels; gift from my sisters

That cape is truly gorgeous! I searched all winter for one and couldn't find out (at the thrift) and gave up for the warmer months, but you've just shown me that capes can be a year round fashio staple! I better start looking again. Love, Annie.

that cape is to. die. for.

Your sequined top is definitely one of those unique items that totally MAKE the outfit... It looks like a fun addition to brighten up or spunkify a more 'plain' outfit... I like the way you're wearing here with a more casual outfit. You look great in jeans! But I'm glad that you 'got over' your pale legs... pale is beautiful! I like the necklace you chose to wear too. Nice contrast.

Ugh. About the weather... I know what you mean. Fellow Washingtonians unite in coffee shops to pass the drizzling days with books and fashion blogs... guess I didn't need to bust out my summer clothes just yet...

Ha, I realized I was signed into my brother's gmail account before and left you a comment under his name (Rory). Now I wonder how often I've done that!

So pretty! Loving the pairing of the cape with jeans.

I was the same way in high school (probably mostly because of growing up with school uniforms). Too many cute dresses have sat unworn in my closet over the years. You have totally inspired me to wear them daily - despite odd looks and impracticalities. :o)

I think the weather gets a bit warmer and drier in July/August. :)

The detailing on that cape is exquisite!

I love the cape! And I'm glad you got over your self-conciousness about your legs. I didn't wear dresses often in the beginning of high school either, but always because I felt like I'd look overdressed to all my classmates. I'm glad I got over mine too because I couldn't imagine NOT wearing dresses now!
And boo, summer has definitely arrived on the East Coast with all its humidity, hopefully it makes its way to you!

I love how you've paired the sparkly cape with something more classically casual. It's so unconventional and unexpected--but it works amazingly well! Love it!!!

I do love the vintage cape.

I think I can understand now why you're able to wear cute coats and long sleeve dresses with tights all year. Esp in that Climate. Sometimes I think it would be amazing to live in Victoria (my first hometown) and live in a similar climate as England, but then I think about how I am affected by dreary weather and rethink my ideas.

You seem to love WA a lot, though. There's just something so enchanting about pastoral landscapes.

XXs,
Mae, thereafterish.

Hi Rebecca! I hope everything is well in your part of the world. I've been away from blogs for way, way too long. It's nice to be in some familiar places again. Especially yours, with such wonderful scenery and, of course, awesome clothes. Your hair is getting long!

AedynHaspiringauthor said...

yeah, thank you, that's a good idea. true, standing next to taller people would make you look shorter but i also think its because you were wearing heels and maybe have long legs? I'm not sure...
well, you take great shots, really, im super jealous of your style! its so cute and unique! :)

i'm trying to become a better photographer too but i dont have the right equipment like a tripod and such, i have a decent camera though..
