Seen Reclining On An Ocean Swell

As you might be able to tell from the water marks on my tights, I fell into the Sound while taking these pictures. The soles of secondhand shoes are not the best for adventuring. I am beginning to sense a pattern here where I wear inadvisable shoes out and about, but I refuse to dress like many Northwesterners who look like they can leave their coffee shops to go hike a mountain. It's been awhile since I seriously injured myself, so I think I'm doing just fine.

Outfit details:
Sixty Eight blazer via Gilt
Pretty Trashy dress
secondhand shoes
Modcloth necklace
ring via Gilt

Gorgeous ring! On the subject of ill-advised shoes, I broke my toe this past fall. When I had healed a good bit, my doctor told me I could start wearing real shoes again... then looked at the ballet flat on my good foot, and sniffed, "But NOT little slippers."

Too bad, doc. Little slippers weren't the cause of my toe dilemma, so why should they be punished?

Wearing sensible shoes is one of those things I have a hard time bringing myself to do sometimes! But if your feet are going to get wet, at least it's in a romantic setting like the Sound, right?

haha, poor you! Hope it wasn't too cold :p The shoes look lovely, if that's any consolation

Haha I completely agree! I hate it when I see women in business suits wearing trainers - I don't care if they're practicaly and comfy, they look UGLY! You look splendid here though, I love all the tones of blue.

You're so funny and charming to tell us about falling into the water! I think it makes your outfit even more adorable and sweet. And it's already so adorable with all the sweet color coordinating and the beautiful print on the dress!

You are so darn brave and devoted. Looking really lovely. I the color combinations you come up with... the rich blues and teals remind me of a peacock.

Sublime dress! I love how your outfits are often colourful whithout seeming trashy or over bright. The little jacket is so cute too.
Plus I think the lake is my favourite backdrop for your photos.

You look great! And I agree, I'm so over the super-casualness of the Pacific Northwest. It's honestly frustrating at times.

I've been developing a collection of cute shoes with PNW appropriate soles. It's a slow process because there aren't a lot of rubbery soled shoes that are cute, but my leather soled shoes made me fall down some stairs my first year of college in the PNW so I had to find an alternative.

i love the whole outfit! from the tip of your head on down, it's perfect :D

Beauty knows no pain. I'm from the Northwest, and I was shocked by the ubiquitous forest fashion when I went back after many years. Paris fashion was interesting, but don't get me started on the waiter that tried to tip our table over....

I really love your ring! It works so well with your lovely dress. I don't blame you for wearing shoes that may not work for the location. I am a firm believer of doing so. Just be careful!
