We All Scream For Icecream

the clothes horse, modcloth, ice cream dress, yellow dress, smiling ice cream, spring, black wedges, redhead, fashion, style, daily outfit
Some days I wake up and wonder, "will this be the time I start dressing in a style where people don't try to sell me the children's ticket at the movies?" Then I see some adorable print, like this one with smiling ice cream cones and realize it might be awhile before people take me seriously. Still, perhaps the more classic shape creates some balance with the ridiculous print and bright yellow color, or at I am attempting to console myself with that theory.

I'm so jealous of your printed/patterned clothes, you manage to find amazing prints!

I seriously think that the silhouette balances out the cute print (which from a distance isn't quite noticeable so it's a fun surprise on closer inspection) and I adore your pretty hair with that bright yellow!

I really happen to think that the prints are very unique as well as cute. Wouldn't mind children's tickets if they were a consequence of wearing this dress.

Yellow is a good color on you! I've been trying to figure out the best way to wear yellow. I used to hate it but am slowly bringing it into my wardrobe.

I love how the print looks so different up close than it does far away. You look lovely.

Ahhh! so cute. I completely understand. I think my way of coping is that when I'm working I wear less bright child-like items - an attempt to be taken seriously.

But then, I have been know to wear quirky things even while on the job so who knows! It keeps life interesting and rules are meant to break! I suppose that's not necessarily something I should say to someone going Law School soon, but you get my point! :)

Oh, but it's adorable! :D

I love, love the colours of this dress. I'm not much for patterns myself, but the yellow and grey of this dress is fantastic!

I'm craving ice cream now.

Angie said...

Very cute pattern! I really like your hair - I wish I could have natural red locks like that.

You comment thing hasn't been working for the past few days ... was that a blogger error? It made me sad because I couldn't comment on how cute your elephant bag was!

Wow.

Love the dress, love Modcloth.

Love how each day you look more and more like a woman coming into her own. I know that sounds weird but it's true, you look phenomenal.

Happy Humpday! :P

I know what you mean, when someone found out I was 23 the other day, she couldn't believe it because she thought I was 18.

Hahaha it's not just me then! I'm 30 but still get asked for ID whenever I try to buy alcohol in a supermarket (the legal age is 18 in the UK). One day a friend tactfully pointed out that my dresses with tree prints and bows on wasn't helping matters, but I'd rather be tee-total than wear sensible clothes any day.

I think that dress is absolutely amazing and you don't look silly in it at all. I also really love those shoes.

Erin said...

I think that having such a cute/whimsicle (that's not a word, but I just made it one) style is just part of you.
I'd say keep rocking it, you look adorable. And who doesn't like smiles and icecream? together it's just fantastic.

Your dress reminds me of a sort of combination between vintage wrapping paper and sunday comics. Or: Have you ever seen a present wrapped in the sunday comics? Apparently my dad used to do this all the time in his days as a bachelor. But, I digress: what a unique dress to own. I like the 'matching' of the stripes on your dress with the stripes on your black shoes. :) As always, thanks for sharing!

Combining two of my favorites: Ice cream and pretty dresses. At first glance, I assumed it was an Anthropologie dress, but no--something more affordable! Yeah--too bad it's sold out.

Dressing for your age is overrated, especially when this delightful dress has a chance to be worn.

Ashley said...

Amazing dress. Think everyone who wears this will be smiling all day. The bright happy feeling shows so well in your photos!

Chelsea said...

Hey, if cute dresses like that get you kid prices at the movies, I say do both! I would kill to pay two dollars less than adult prices. And lets face it, most people don't check IDs or care if you have a kid ticket to an adult movie. I remember a friend and I went to a PG-13 movie when we were 14 and she got the kid ticket, which are 12 and under.

kate maggie said...

Everything about this is amazing. I love that dress. I really want to get an icecream cone now...chocolate chip mint flavored infact! Your shoes are incredible too...great outfit rebecca, as per usual!

regarding the newest post, I feel the bug biting at me again to go traveling. Sadly, we're trapped with family obligations and work time off limitations.

The only traveling outside the country we may do this year is to visit my husband's great aunt in Northampton, England.
