My recent vintage hunts resulted in a few items; some that were less delightful once they arrived home. Yet another vintage dress I bought and brought home ended up being too large; a fact I couldn't ascertain in a store that didn't have a dressing room. I have decided I must resist dresses (no matter how pretty they are) in antique malls. Accessories: hats, gloves, and bags are a much safer gamble. No regrets on this sequined blue wonder of a hat.

"I went back to the ocean today,
With my books and my papers, I went to the rocks by the ocean,
The weather changed quickly, oh the ocean said,
"What are you trying to find, I don't care, I'm not kind,
I have bludgeoned your sailors, I've spat out their keepsakes."
Oh it's ashes to ashes, but always the ocean,
But the ocean can't come to this town, this town is a song about you."

Love love love this coat!! such amazing pictures too - so tranquil!
The photo of the birds is whimsical. And I love that shade of blue on your hat, it really compliments your hair colour.
Oh the sea, it makes for such a lovely backdrop. The hat sort of reminds me of a sea creature itself. It's ridges and pattern look quite like that sea star...
amazing pictures, lovely location :)
Your blog is amazing, i really like your photo, you are so cute :)

Don't stop hunting for vintage dresses, they are awesome :D You search for them in second-hands too? It demands a 6th sense to find sth so original :)
Lovely hat and beautiful photos!
looks like a compleatly different ocian than I know... I love that.
Awesome pictures!
Cute hat...icky sea creature! :-)
It's strange but the hat is actually quite similar to the slimy starfish creature... they sort of look like they have the same texture...
Love your green tights . You look like a mermaid washed ashore.
:]
Man, that hat looks greeattt with the red of your hair.
(And what exactly is that thing in the fourth photo up??)
Oh dear, tell me you saved that star fish! They're my absolute favourite....You live in such a beautiful part of the world.
I love the color of your tights! You have such an endless array of tight shades. I'm jelly.

I love the WA beaches, what washes up on them is both beautiful and fascinating
Oh that IS a sequined wonder of a hat! I love it. I wish I wasn't so terrible at hat-wearing.
What a gorgeous hat!
The sea looks beautiful! The blue and green color of your hat and tights, complement the ocean perfectly!
I'm totally jealous. I ache to be by the pacific northwest coastline. The longer I'm away, the more I long for that beautiful coast. These photos are beautiful.
Beautiful!
Please stop having such amazing photos, Its not fair.
Or at least let me borrow your photograper.

love love love green tights! I own about four pairs! and you hat ofcourse is sweet! great great dress!
the hat is SO pretty! what a great find!!!!
Great great hat! These are beautiful pictures! It looks like you had fun at the ocean! Love that poem. Never heard of the poet before; I shall have to look him up!
I say keep it up on the vintage shopping. I've found that the longer I have shopped (ie. the older I have gotten!!) the better I have gotten at knowing what will fit and look good without trying it on.
For example, I just bought 40 items of clothing without trying any of them on and they all fit-it was an epic shop (except two pairs of pants!!).

ah that sucks...cause you are left feeling like you wasted money! I almost always need to try stuff on. I'm kind of the opposite, Im stuck with things that are too small

I love this outfit!
And the pics are great(:
What a blog!!! what a girl!!
Love IT!!!
Long time reader 1st time comment: love the coat and the dress. Your hair looks fab.
You never fail to impress me with your beautiful pictures. I love that you have that scenery where you live and I never get bored of seeing it!
Are you going to try and alter the dress to fit you? Love that pretty sequinned beret, it's so sweet!
you always make me envious of your beautiful photo locations. I'm constantly surrounded by dirty snow and boring streets.
your pictures are always lovely.
Such a pretty place! So quiet looking an peaceful! I love your darling outfit and colored tights look great on you.
That's unfortunate about the dress not fitting. If I'm going to a vintage fashion fair where there is likely to be no changing rooms I often wear leggings and a close fitting top under my clothes, that way I can try on things wherever without exposing myself. Usually everyone is so busy rifling through the vintage goods that they don't pay too much attention anyway.
I love this outfit, you little hat is beautiful & you tights have such a nice color ! :)
I really like your photo!
love it

Beautiful shoes, and that is such a gorgeous beach/lake?
Although its not generically beach beautiful- crystal water, white sand, theirs perhaps something a bit more interesting to this place,

gorgeous photos!
I love your hat, and I just got some tights in that same colour too.
Ah, I recently bought a vintage dress that was a bit too large (no dressing room either), so I know the feeling :(
I really enjoy your hat, also lovely location!
I love how you always wear colored tights. I think I need to get some teal ones after seeing this post.
http://thedollhouse0101.blogspot.com/
I love how present nature is in all of your pictures...it seems like you live in a gorgeous national park that's been perfectly preserved. Beautiful hat too, special thrift finds are the best!
oh, that picture with the starfish is fantastic :) I love the image of a slightly chilly and unpopulated beach! x
beautiful! I want to go here!
wow!
Love the dress, is that velvet? Oh what a wonderful hat and coat! Haha perhaps you can tailor the dress or sew part of the insides? It can be hard to resist such wonderful goodies...what lovely scenery, you always find the greatest places to take pictures! Do you ever get a little paranoid or self-conscious if people walk by while you're taking your outfit pictures?
The tights are such a perfect accessory with this look.
Well!I love the dress!!xoxo

suuper cute har luv, n great color tights
oh that hat!!! I have a mini-collection of vintage hats that right now are being used as box filler because I simply can't think of ways to wear them. This makes me want to break out my navy blue fascinator with a veil (in perfect condition I might add! and use it to top off just about anything.
I love the sequened hat, great find
Lovely photos! I like the combination of teal tights with the printed jacket, such a sweet pop of color!!
That starfish is AMAZING!
Love that starfish photo! That color of the tights matches your surroundings so well. Such a pretty outfit as well!

Trishna

beautiful pictures as always :) xxxx
Such gorgeous photos! Love the sequin hat :)
Pretty hat! It must be nice to be near the ocean to take pictures. :)
i don't normally like blue sequin hats, but this one is so perfect! and the black dress is just darling! the seaside, wow, wish i were there.

Black dress and green tights? too cool. ;]
You look so pretty in this outfit! I am in love with everything about it!
the hat and jacket make an unexpected, but lovely combination. That last photo is gorgeous, Northwestern beaches during the winter are probably some of my favorite places in the world. So desolate, perfect for some soul searching.

lovely as ever. how therapeutic it must be to experience such a place all alone.
Gorgeous outfit and photos!

By the way, I wanted to let you know that I found a bunch of really great thrift/consignment shops in Charleston over the weekend-- everything from Goodwill to boutique resale shops that stock secondhand Jimmy Choos! If you decide to come to SC for law school I'd be happy to give you my full list :)

I am loving that hat!
I am the same way, I just can't buy vintage where I can't try them on. I have such a terrible eye for sizes. I think something will fit me just to find out it's an extralarge, haha
your leo coat is just divine!
that hat is amazing and looks so good with your red/auburn locks.
adorable look! great photos, especially the nature closeups. :)

I love those tights. THE perfect color. Looks like you had fun at the beach!
these pictures are so lovely. I am very fond of your wedges. Must look for something similar. The poem was quite interesting as well.
I also hate it when I find some fabulous vintage piece that is too big. I want to make it work but...
Stay Chic!
I want the turquoise tights and hat!! Wow! The whole look is gorgeous, and you always have such wonderful photographs :)
I love love love the coat!! I wish we had a Forever 21 in the UK <3

Your hair looks amazing. i love how redheads always stand out like that. (i'm a redhead myself, and i always try to play up my hair for attention).
i think the colour of those tights is very appropriate for the seaside - though i'm not sure i'd ever really wear tights to the beach. i'd be too scared of ruining them.
Your outfits are lovely as usual. And your photography is amazing!
Anyway, have you ever considered bringing a tape measure with you to the store? I did that last time and ended up with a wonderful dress (still could use some minor help, but not much). It doesn't account for fabric differences, but it helps a ton.
It appears that your outfit grew out of the colours and txtures by the seaside, yet somehow stand out from them as being wholly and entirely separate and different.
I love the textures and colours you bring into one ensemble, which oppose each other and yet blend so seamlessly together.
I always admire your style at such a young age. (Okay, okay, I'm only 5 years ahead, but whatever. I feel old! :)
such great images, as always. I love your little beret! So adorable
