To The Rocks By The Ocean

My recent vintage hunts resulted in a few items; some that were less delightful once they arrived home. Yet another vintage dress I bought and brought home ended up being too large; a fact I couldn't ascertain in a store that didn't have a dressing room. I have decided I must resist dresses (no matter how pretty they are) in antique malls. Accessories: hats, gloves, and bags are a much safer gamble. No regrets on this sequined blue wonder of a hat.
"I went back to the ocean today,
With my books and my papers, I went to the rocks by the ocean,
The weather changed quickly, oh the ocean said,
"What are you trying to find, I don't care, I'm not kind,
I have bludgeoned your sailors, I've spat out their keepsakes."
Oh it's ashes to ashes, but always the ocean,
But the ocean can't come to this town, this town is a song about you."

The photo of the birds is whimsical. And I love that shade of blue on your hat, it really compliments your hair colour.

Oh the sea, it makes for such a lovely backdrop. The hat sort of reminds me of a sea creature itself. It's ridges and pattern look quite like that sea star...

It's strange but the hat is actually quite similar to the slimy starfish creature... they sort of look like they have the same texture...

Love your green tights . You look like a mermaid washed ashore.

Great great hat! These are beautiful pictures! It looks like you had fun at the ocean! Love that poem. Never heard of the poet before; I shall have to look him up!

I say keep it up on the vintage shopping. I've found that the longer I have shopped (ie. the older I have gotten!!) the better I have gotten at knowing what will fit and look good without trying it on.

For example, I just bought 40 items of clothing without trying any of them on and they all fit-it was an epic shop (except two pairs of pants!!).

You never fail to impress me with your beautiful pictures. I love that you have that scenery where you live and I never get bored of seeing it!

Are you going to try and alter the dress to fit you? Love that pretty sequinned beret, it's so sweet!

you always make me envious of your beautiful photo locations. I'm constantly surrounded by dirty snow and boring streets.

your pictures are always lovely.

Such a pretty place! So quiet looking an peaceful! I love your darling outfit and colored tights look great on you.

Louise said...

That's unfortunate about the dress not fitting. If I'm going to a vintage fashion fair where there is likely to be no changing rooms I often wear leggings and a close fitting top under my clothes, that way I can try on things wherever without exposing myself. Usually everyone is so busy rifling through the vintage goods that they don't pay too much attention anyway.

Your hair looks amazing. i love how redheads always stand out like that. (i'm a redhead myself, and i always try to play up my hair for attention).

i think the colour of those tights is very appropriate for the seaside - though i'm not sure i'd ever really wear tights to the beach. i'd be too scared of ruining them.

Anonymous said...

Your outfits are lovely as usual. And your photography is amazing!

Anyway, have you ever considered bringing a tape measure with you to the store? I did that last time and ended up with a wonderful dress (still could use some minor help, but not much). It doesn't account for fabric differences, but it helps a ton.

Maeko @ thereafterish. said...

It appears that your outfit grew out of the colours and txtures by the seaside, yet somehow stand out from them as being wholly and entirely separate and different.

I love the textures and colours you bring into one ensemble, which oppose each other and yet blend so seamlessly together.

I always admire your style at such a young age. (Okay, okay, I'm only 5 years ahead, but whatever. I feel old! :)
