I miss my dad's book collection. He had three ceiling to floor bookshelves made of teak wood, back home which was stuffed with books. He was an avid book collector and had a voracious appetite for reading, that was luckily passed down to me. Oh that lovely musty smell. Delicious! Thanks for bringing it all back to me. :-)
I love collecting books, especially really old ones! one of my goals in life is to have my own library when I own a house ;) hahaa like in disney's beauty and the beast.
i love books, the smell, the look, the feel of them and of course the stories. children's books are my favorite. but to be honest I'm such a slow reader so i don't read as often as id like to.
love your blog, hope you can checkout mine :) http://www.i-create-myself.blogspot.com/
I agree! It creates such a homey feel and looks quite wonderful and appetizing to read. I love the polaroids on the bookshelves too..the antiques and books make it a place I would one day like to have too!
have you seen that shelf with all the books arranged by the color of their spines? i loved it so much, i did it too my books too. too bad most of mine are in the grey/black spectrum...
Yikes, the fourth photo is basically what my bookshelf looks like, but with even more clutter! The little china set amongst all the leather bound books is so darling.
books are so versatile. they make good reads (that is, if they're good books of course), and they're so fashionable. antique books look good almost anywhere. thanks for the pics! :)
What's funny is I always wish I had enough books to fill a room floor to ceiling, but now I think it would be quite possible with my fashion magazine collection ... ha!
Nice pictures! When I finally buy a house or apartment I want it to have a huge library. I could never let it be filled with books alone, right now I have some cute boxes, some baboushka dolls and some other stuff in between my book.
As a fellow avid reader, I love this post-- book pics are so pretty! Makes me feel like I'm in a wise old professor's library... or Belle in Beauty and the Best... :)
Thank you for posting these! I tell my boyfriend that the ONE thing I want in our future house (besides a huge walk-in closet) is a room that has bookshelves upon bookshelves, filled to the rim with beautiful books and knic knacks.
I'm so excited to see people loving books as much as I! ahha and I've spotted you have a gossip girl book too! nice work : ) <3 Lily thegirlwhocamegiftwrapped.blogspot.com
Bookshelves really are like a little snapshot of a person's life. I mean, really, who gets a book they don't at least have some connection to? This is a good reminder to check out Selby's new book -- brilliant idea.
Creepy, but I too have a folder filled with pictures of bookshelves and libraries. I really need shelves for my room. Piles of books everywhere, some even 3 feet high!

I like using little statues as bookends. Breaks up the monotony a bit and makes the bookcase more interesting!
