Lifespan Of A Butterfly

Artist Sophie Blackall describes the written 'missed connections' posted on various sites as having "the lifespan of a butterfly." Her illustrations are based off of the scribbles delightfully romantic hopefuls post online. Sophie attempts to pen a few of them down into a more lasting form. Each one is a lovely, pick-me-up on an otherwise uneventful day. It definitely makes one hopeful that re-connections will be made and that perhaps one day you'll have that connection... She sells them here; I'm quite partial to the "How come no one ever 'misses' me?" print.

These remind me of a modern-day Chagall; a little melancholy, a little whimsical, a little happiness. :) thanks for sharing! I like "red book, blue book."

I've seen these before but forgot about them, thanks for sharing! I love that they are all similar but still have a unique mood/style based on the "connection."

These are all so great. I love, too, also really like the "How come no-one ever misses me" print and I also seem to really fancy the "bear suit" print as well.

I was so surprised and shocked to get a comment from you! It was sort of like getting an email from Scott Schuman from the Sartorialist or something. The craziest part was that I had just told a girl at the high school I have been volunteering at (who has a strong sense of personal style already, and sort of resembles you and your style actually) That SHE HAD to look at your blog and that she would love it. I just said "just type the clothes horse in google and it will show up at the top!" Anyway, thank you so much for looking at my blog and adding me to your blog roll! HUGE!

i love drawings and illustrations they all inspire me. THe great part is that it's a chance to get into the artists mind and what they think since a brain is a interesting thing to look into it.

Ha, these are amazing!! I'm so glad someone's doing something wonderful with all of those missed connections. I love how the "circle of Asian girls" is so little in the Scrabble Tattoo print.

I love the aesthetic of these prints.

I'm thinking of purchasing a couple because my bedrooms dreadfully droll. Looks like an after college first apartment.

MAKES ME SAD.

But thankfully these prints make me very happy.

Thanks for the link!
