Atypical Me

Whenever I wear jeans it is the opposite of a "throw it on a go" wardrobe choice. I intentionally wear them on days when an activity calls for them or I want to feel a little anonymous or normal. I find it much more easy and comfortable to fling a dress on and trot out the door. However, I've worn jeans a couple of times lately and I thought I would do a little showcase of atypical style for me.
Also, I've been experimenting with braids lately...it is definitely a learning process; I think I should invest in some hair product like spray or gel to help me keep them intact! My daily hair process is to air dry and then brush it...really lazy. I really like this style, but it felt a little too saccharine to wear it with a dress. Although, by the time summer rolls around I'll probably be comfortable looking Heidi-esque. I'm quite ready for summer too, it felt like spring on this particular day and I swear it was the first time I saw the sun in weeks. My outfit pictures from last week and even Monday were taken either in a brief break from rain, or while getting rained on!
Outfit details:
Neneee cardigan
Current Elliot jeans
DIY shoes
I don't go out often, but here's a typical "night out" look for those times that I do. Miniature heels or flats are a must because I love to dance and I'd rather be comfortable with a dash of sparkle than over-the-top. I've been told I dance well and I've been told I dance like a Charlie Brown character and I'm still trying to figure out if those are mutually exclusive!
Outfit details:
In4mation shirt, gift from Tofu's Closet
sequin skirt from some shop in Greece
Betsey Johnson via Modcloth tights
Bloch wedges via Giltfuse

i love the going out outfit, simple yet really unique.

Gasp! The Clothes Horse in jeans?? It's atypical, but with that jester cardigan and braids, it's a unique ensemble-- I love it.

And of course dancing like a Snoopy character is correlated with dancing well! :)

Both outfits are very stylish - I have to say I think you look great in jeans! I like how you still made your look so unique with the beautiful hairdo.

Yes, jeans fits you well :)
But I like more your sequin skirt outfit, with this shirt and nylons is absolutely great :)

How great to see you in both jeans and that night-time party outfit! Love the sequined skirt! Is it just me, or does it have a somewhat draped effect?

I almost never wear jeans, but I was thinking about it yesterday - and this is great inspiration. Thanks :)

I used to wear jeans loads but I only really do now when I'm mooching about at home (like today!) as it's very chilly. I'm a little bit in love with that cardigan! And the going out look, love the sparkle. I went out the other night just for a quick drink and it was freezing and pouring with rain so I wore a skirt but layered up and wore my fake fur coat....only to find all the girls that were out were in teeny tiny bodycon dresses with no tights, no coats.. Ok, I must be getting old and sensible but blimey!
Anyway, I wear flats or small heels out too so I can dance without looking like I'm in danger of toppling.

i dont really wear jeans either...unless if the activity calls for it like you said. theres a lot more coordination and time that goes into an outfit with jeans whereas a dress you put on and just emblellish. my friends always ask me if i even own jeans haha!

some days its nice to wear jeans, but I agree, its totally easier to wear a dress. but on chilly days I'll be darned if I can barely get up to even fathom trying to look cute. I'll be going to zara today to rummage through their sale and find some cute pants instead of jeans.

awesome post! The milk-maid brains have been making an apperance on quite a few blogs lately, they are super cute! It's nice to see a post for jeans too, I have trouble with jeans, either they feel too boring, or the fit is usually off. Your going out clothes look similar to what mine usually are, and dancing is always fun!

and on my gosh- i love you second outfit set, perfection!

Mel said...

I love your hairstyle! I wish I could get my hair to cooperate so I could actually braid it, let alone do a Heidi style. You look great in jeans, it's definitely different but still you! That cardigan is too awesome for words! And you look so chic for a night on the town! I actually find myself dancing like Peanuts characters too sometimes; there was this one dance in one of the movies, either the Christmas or Thanksgiving one, where you kind of bob back and forth.

elle s'appelle cesca! said...

I love that hair style, it really suits you. I wish I could do mine like that, but I can only just manage to do a straight braid down my back and even that looks dodgy.
Lovely blog, have a great day x

Jeans can be so hard. I always feel so sloppy in them. You look super cute and casual. Way to pull them off!

sarah louise walker said...

It's nice to see people's night outfits- I should do it more often, too, since that is when I get to play the most. And I feel you with the jeans- I feel like I have to be a lot more careful with how I accessorize and what shirts I wear etc because the jeans tend to be forgotten in the overall look. That cardigan is really fun and I love your braids. I plan on doing that when it gets hot as well, to get it off my neck and I don't much care for a ponytail.

You look great! I love the t-shirts in both looks. Coincidentally, I just bought a new pair of jeans this week! I still feel like I'm wearing more of a costume in jeans than anything else though...

Its neat seeing you wear outfits that you may not always were on the blog. Both styles are cute - I adore the cardigan. I tried the braid style last summer. Your little sequined skirt and stockings are quite lovely. Are those little hearts patterned on the stockings?

One thing i've found when i braid my hair is that if it's a little damp it holds much more neatly, even once it has dried.

Your braids turned out wonderful. I unsuccessfully tried to do a braid today and couldn't get it to not fall out. I think my hair has too many layers for braids. Oh well.

Get some pomade if you get a hair product it tames those unruly flyaways without making your hair look greasy or stiff. This Aveda kind is my favorite when I can afford it.
