Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, Oh my!

I enjoy taking my pictures in this stretch of wilderness near my home. Yes, there are roads (many unpaved) and much of it is used for military drilling, but I still consider it a sprawl of wilderness. Despite cannons and artillery fire, a good part is just pure rambling nature and is teeming with wildlife. There are rivers with salmon and one can commonly spot deer traipsing about. There are also numerous reports of black bears in this region, though I have never witnessed them here myself. The other day, I did have the fortune of spying a coyote!
They're rather difficult to see, since they blend in well with their surroundings. I was quite excited to see it, but also rather happy that I was safely in my vehicle when I spotted it...

Outfit details: fascinator- vintage, cardigan- H&M, dress- vintage, belt- vintage, tights- Walmart, shoes- Seychelles, necklace- Yellowstone National Park gift shop, ring- street vendor

I always love your scenic photo backgrounds. Though, I guess it's a good thing that we don't see bears lurking behind your outfit photos! That would be a bit scary?

I love the colour combo of your outfit. Very green and nature-y.

This is the perfect fall outfit, the neutral colours are so rich.
Ooooh I hope you spot a bear (from a safe distance of course) I would love to see a wild bear! Unfortunately the only bears in New Zealand are teddy bears.

I love this! Polka dots, feathers, little socks... it's great. I am a big nature nerd too so I love that you take so many photos out in this beautiful spot! So cool to see a coyote, we have a bunch here too. I saw one prancing around in the graveyard in the spring, and once a coyote got on the MAX and went for a ride! There are some funny pictures of him all curled up on a seat.

indigotangerine said...

i love the way you've been layering socks over tights lately. this whole outfit is sublime, from the feathered headpiece to the ring to the way you belted the whole ensemble.

I am in love with these photos, the colors, everything! The outfit is adorable too especially the hair piece =)

Ah, my favorite dress ;) That's a fab fascinator; the colors are perfect.

I'm very fond of living near the wilderness, too. I often spot deer, turkeys and grouse while driving along our quiet country roads. I absolutely love seeing blue herons wading in streams. They're so graceful even when they take flight. A few times we were fortunate enough to have moose trekking across our property! And I have to agree, coyotes are best viewed from the safety of one's car!

love it love it! love that you're wearing fall leaf colors and took pictures lying in the fallen leaves!

Maeko @ thereafterish. said...

You're a modern pop up growing out of the golden leaves on the ground.

I'm so sorry to hear your father is deployed, and that he couldn't be with you during Thanksgiving. But I'm grateful brave soldiers like him are doing a patriotic duty (I am quite the liberal, but I very much respect our military and the work they do!), helping defend the defenseless and upholding justice in other lands.

I'm glad your family is safe as well!

I have a bear in my family. I made sure to get a closeup of him in my recent post. Be sure to stop by!

I love these outdoor shots. I know you have a DSLR; what tripod do you recommend? Also, how do you get such clear shots of yourself, if you use a timer? I don't see a remote shutter control anywhere.

This is Fall perfect. Your vintage dress is utterly charming.

Rachel said...

I LOVE your belt, and that shot of your belt especially. Man, you can see the wear in the leather from what has obviously been years of use. It totally makes the outfit for me. (Not that the outfit would be anything less than lovely without it, you look super pretty.) And that's really cool about the coyote. Occasionally I spot one running around in my back yard or something, and we've also spotted a couple bears over the years and a cougar once around our house.

I always enjoy reading what you have to say, what you wear, and how dynamic your "closet" is, but I especially enjoy today's post!

1. I feel the same way about the nature aspect. in fact, if I still lived near such I would do the same thing probably haha
2. your outfit is ADORABLE. I have trouble layering, but you do it so well :)

1) Such a lovely outfit!
2) Ah, a coyote wouldn't do anything but run from you. A bear on the other hand.. Cougars were always what I was afraid of on my walk home from work in Bellingham. I walked through a quite woodsy area and even though my father had prepared me for cougar encounters (make yourself look really big, be loud, and throw things) I was still terrified!

Diane said...

You spotted a coyote?! That's awesome, although I would be terrified if I wasn't in a vehicle. Still, pretty awesome.

I love this outfit - everything from the beautiful fascinator to the ankle socks and oxford heels.

incredible ... you can create looks that seem to be made with griffe clothes and in fact they are all very cheap ... for example, the shoes you wear are the copy of my nina ricci lace up booties of 2 years ago, but yours cost less and are much more comfy ... good, that's how it should do!

I really love this look so much, I saved it to my inspiration folder. Your blog continues to be one of my favorites because the clothes you wear really reflect my style. I've grown so tired of bloggers whose outfits always seem to revolve around denim hotpants and torn stockings.

Lovely outfit, as always, and the details are amazing. I'm in love with feather fascinators -- they are the simple cure to a bad hair day. I saw your note about the coyote -- they're such funny animals; very timid, but still curious. I see them when I take my own little furry beast, Indy, on walks through a wooded trail.
