Mysterio

When I was studying Greek language in Athens my instructor had the habit of saying "mysterio" every time someone had a question that would consume too much class time to answer. The intriguing photographs of Ellen Rogers who experiments with dark room techniques reminds me of that...it is as if there is a rhyme and reason behind them, but we aren't given a direct answer.

you're right, these are enigmatic and haunting. i love the greeks' grappling with english. i had so much fun there this summer, they're so kind!

such beautiful photos! ^^

I am TOTALLY saying "mysterio" instead of answering questions from now on. Even easy questions! Why should I tax my brain if I don't have to?

Definitely mysterio, these are beautiful with a haunting undertone.

Ooh and in reference to your last post. I'm trying to embrace fall and winter, though I too would love to spend forever in eternal summer.

i love the colors in the photos, very pretty.

ps- well, i guess i was wrong about the cold :) i've never experienced a real winter though, so i always think about how pretty the snow is not about shoveling and slipping and such. i guess i may think otherwise if actually went through it. :D

Haha, creative way of your teacher to dodge questions bearing too complicated answers.
Love the pictures. It's always nice when a photograph makes you think of more than it actually shows.

these are somewhat disturbing, but intriguing

oh these are great! last one is superb!

They are very mysterious. Like there is a haze, something heavy and veiling between you and the subject. The first makes me think of a fairy or mermaid. The second is sort of scary, vampiresque. And the last is very gypsy. So mythical.

I love the idea of that word...the ambiguity of it. The pictures are so mysterious and otherworldly. Sometimes its nice not to have one definite answer.

Nice. There's something so theatrical and vintage about the images, but they also seem so fresh. Mysterio indeed...

I love the little story you have at the beginning of this. It made the photos more meaningful. They're so haunting but definitely in a good way.

These are eerily beautiful. I love the finishing of the photos and the subjects themselves. They look like they've been caught on camera, but are still completely undauted by it.

Lovely find! The middle one is my favorite.

Isn't it funny how professor quirks stick with you through the years? When I had first started college I had a math professor who always said "Do you agree" after each and every step in his lessons.

I think Mysterio is the perfect word to describe these photographs. They are very mysterious and the subjects seem to be sinking into something.
