When I was studying Greek language in Athens my instructor had the habit of saying "mysterio" every time someone had a question that would consume too much class time to answer. The intriguing photographs of
Ellen Rogers who experiments with dark room techniques reminds me of that...it is as if there is a rhyme and reason behind them, but we aren't given a direct answer.

beautiful pictures, i love the second one.
you're right, these are enigmatic and haunting. i love the greeks' grappling with english. i had so much fun there this summer, they're so kind!
such beautiful photos! ^^
I am TOTALLY saying "mysterio" instead of answering questions from now on. Even easy questions! Why should I tax my brain if I don't have to?
estas fotos son geniales
el color misterioso las hace
unicas :D
mysterio indeed!
Definitely mysterio, these are beautiful with a haunting undertone.
Ooh and in reference to your last post. I'm trying to embrace fall and winter, though I too would love to spend forever in eternal summer.
Incredible shots! these are indeed worthy of the "mysterio" tag :)
The photos are beautiful. I especially love that last one! She looks like a vampire or something, very 'Mysterio'!
lovely photos!
beautiful! and definitely mysterio, haha
The photos are very mysterious indeed. In particular the second one, her expression is intrigueing.

very strange and beautiful
wow, they really are beautiful. I wonder how I could recreate this!!
i love the colors in the photos, very pretty.
ps- well, i guess i was wrong about the cold :) i've never experienced a real winter though, so i always think about how pretty the snow is not about shoveling and slipping and such. i guess i may think otherwise if actually went through it. :D
haha so gonna start using that word! i can see why the pictures would remind you of it though xx
you know what I am sooo glad blogged this word "Mysterio" cause I always feel that I must give an answer but really I don't anymore Mysterio will do just fine! Lovely photos!
Hey you!! Haven't been here for a while! So much to catch up on! These pictures are hauntingly beautiful! xoxoxox
Haha, creative way of your teacher to dodge questions bearing too complicated answers.
Love the pictures. It's always nice when a photograph makes you think of more than it actually shows.
these are somewhat disturbing, but intriguing
oh these are great! last one is superb!
They are very mysterious. Like there is a haze, something heavy and veiling between you and the subject. The first makes me think of a fairy or mermaid. The second is sort of scary, vampiresque. And the last is very gypsy. So mythical.
Mysterious & intriguing indeed! :)
xx
Ellen's work is so captivating!
Mysterious, indeed.

Those pictures are stunning.
beautiful pictures!
Ooo, I love the second picture! Reminds me of "Twilight" or some romantic vampire movie.
These images are ethereal, and, I agree, shrouded in a type of mystery
these are amazing! thanks for sharing!!
I love the idea of that word...the ambiguity of it. The pictures are so mysterious and otherworldly. Sometimes its nice not to have one definite answer.
i like.
exactly! i love how romantic these look. :)
Nice. There's something so theatrical and vintage about the images, but they also seem so fresh. Mysterio indeed...
Words can't describe how perfect these pictures are! I feel like they, and the feeling they evoke, describe my life!
oh my, they're so beautiful. they're very fantastical too! i love them.
wow these are really lovely...I think "haunting" is a good word to describe them, and what you said makes a lot of sense.
Gypsy Shangrila!!!!! I love it i guess from my website hulagypsy you could have imagined i would be enthralled!!!! lots of aloha, anna
I love the little story you have at the beginning of this. It made the photos more meaningful. They're so haunting but definitely in a good way.
I'm in love with the second image. Nothing but haunting ...

Fabulous pictures ! Thank you so much !
AMAZING!
XoXo
it's almost spooky. great pictures..
These are eerily beautiful. I love the finishing of the photos and the subjects themselves. They look like they've been caught on camera, but are still completely undauted by it.
Lovely find! The middle one is my favorite.
Isn't it funny how professor quirks stick with you through the years? When I had first started college I had a math professor who always said "Do you agree" after each and every step in his lessons.
I think Mysterio is the perfect word to describe these photographs. They are very mysterious and the subjects seem to be sinking into something.
oh i totally get what you are saying. there's definitely a vibe of the unknown in these photographs. they are kinda dark, i dig that!
Stunning dark and mysterious photos !!
I love love how the colors came out and the last photo is really so gorgeous <3
these are so beautiful!
Wow, you actually learned greek - that's pretty amazing, I just assumed you studied in English while you were there.
I think these pictures perfectly capture the fall mood. They are very beautiful.
truly beautiful photographs
