They Shoot Pigeons, Don't They?

Mad Men is returning to television this month. I, for one, can not wait.
There's a really interesting article here with Janie Bryant, the costume designer of the show.

Mmmk. I've never seen the show...however, I love Christina Hendricks' body. She's so full...even though...isn't she a hussy on the show? Anywho. Maybe I should watch it. Just to give it a whirl. I love the polka dot dress the blond was wearing! So cute!

i wish i could more into watching this show . i just feel like its too late .
but love the costume design!

I feel like this is a show I should be watching... just from the costumes it seems like something I would become quickly addicted to!

I would love to watch it, but I really can't start watching another show. I'm the kind of person that starts at episode 1 of season 1 and then works her way up to the last episode of the last season available as quickly as possible. Tsssk. Chances are I will start watching Mad Men once I'm finished with desperate housewives... we'll see!

I NEED to get the boxsets. I remember season 2 was on TV a few months back and I refused to watch it as I hadn't seen season 1, and no season 3 is arriving??? Wow I'm behind...

I for one love that Era in fashion. And the 1920's flapper dresses, I discovered oncewed.com through the la mechante blog through you and it has some awesome throwback fashions.

I've never watched the show, but I'm always impressed when I see the film stills. It is so stylized and rigid-looking, you know? But in a 'this looks authentic and awesome and weird' sort of way.

my canadian friend told me to watch this, for the costumes as much as the drama, and i still haven't gotten round to it...you've reminded me though, i can't wait to get addicted.

What awesome stills! The costumes look fantastic.

Thanks for the link to the article! Beautiful clothing....I especially love the overall aesthetic in the disheveled photo on the bed. Are all of the costumes custom made or do they ever utilize authentic vintage?! Amazingly beautiful either way!

HBO makes such great series! Besides the awesome styles on both men and women the show is so true to the era and it is filled with such great details. The way people walk and the smoking and drinking behind closed doors in the offices, all the way down to the typewriters. After season one I had a very strong desire to purchase a rotary phone.

Eyeliah SS said...

okay, I think I am finally convinced to watch this show. :-)

I`ve never watched this show but I have heard about it. I must confess that I thought it was something like Two and a half men since i`ve never seen pictures or clips. I love the clothing, it`s absolutely gorgeous and that article was really interesting. I think I`ll find some episodes online and see how I like this show.

Ps. I remember that you studied abroad in Greece and I was wondering if you spoke the language and if not, was it hard to live there not speaking the language or were you able to pick it up

i've been seeing this show being mentioned on quite a number of blogs. i'm really curious now! but it might not come to our shores and even if it does, it's always late... but i really have no patience to follow shows esp when they become too long-drawn and the stories go to hell :P

aimy said...

I've never seen this, but I could look at the costumes all day!

Shin said...

I read about them in a Vogue article and saw an episode there and there but I thought it was kind of boring. Their costumes are a whole another story. I love the details and everyone seems to have their own distinct style! xxoxooxxo

I want to watch this show so bad! But I hate starting shows in the middle of them. It looks so wonderful and and interesting. And I love January Jones!

Style Redux said...

I have a hard time getting into the show. Not sure why. I really want to. I love the redhead's style.

dapper kid said...

I absolutely love the costume design in Mad Men, it really is inspirational. And I guess what with those overplayed cliches of recession chic, the traditional attire really does seem inspiring and relevant. I was watching The Trouble With Harry last night, and there was something so incredibly magical about the simple dresses and men who were comfortable in suits.

Becca Jane said...

Amazing show, even more amazing style. I can't wait!

celi.a said...

Just found this on another blog...you can Mad Men yourself! You should check it out.

are you going to enter the Mad Men casting call contest? I'd vote for you!

Wow I just love the Mad Men costumes. The hair and make up is so perfect not to mention the set and locations. Who ever styles this had the best job in the world! Polly x

I loved Christina Hendricks best in Firefly (I know you love sci-fi as much as I do).

But watching them style her and her ginger hair always has me tingly all over. They do beautifully with her.

I appreciate these shots.

J.Me. said...

OMG! I didn't know CH was on Firefly?!?! And I missed it?! I only watched the first few episodes. I only liked it so-so...Now that I know she was in it, I'm going to be looking for her!

Lucy in the Sky said...

...don't yell at me but I have no idea what Mad Men is about. T__T If it's on cable television that would be the reason why! I don't have cable...which is a good thing.

but gosh I love the costumes and hair styles!

I'm totally crazy of Mad Men and the clothes are gorgeous !
