So Caught Up In You

The key way to make your wardrobe look large when you're on a tight budget is to buy items that will either be useful accessories to wear with numerous looks, or versatile pieces that can be worn many different ways.
When I was given the opportunity to chose an item from the site Shopcuffs to review, I tried to keep in mind the above principles. The site offers a mix of reconstructed finds, vintage, and very current items. I forced myself to resist their wonderful collection of vintage gems and to focus on a dress that would feel both modern and timeless. From browsing Shopcuffs the "So Caught Up In You" dress seemed to be a good example of what I was looking for. The intricate cording seemed to be an interesting take on the lace trend that has been around for several seasons and we all know black is a malleable color. In person, the dress is made from a very lightweight nearly sheer material and the size runs large. This volume isn't really a problem in a sack dress--it just gives you more material to play with. The whole transaction went so smoothly I will very likely be returning to Shopcuffs to deplete my wallet...

This dress is really cool and I am so sure you can wear it forever! I am so like you, I am always try to buy key pieces to increase, little by little, my closet…People always think that I have more that I rally have. My sisters, for example, have more clothes than me. However, they seem to have less…

aah i love how creative you are! whenever i feel lazy and think that i have nothing to wear, i just think of you and how you can make anything, ANYTHING, look cool and new. i've been reading your blog forever, but i never commented until today because i was always so intimidated by how many comments you had for each post, but i've just created a blog myself, so if you ever have a second to spare (but only, of course, if you'd like to!), drop by! i hope you're well!

love your 3rd to last look - and i like how you wear it as a shirt in the last look! Good to know i'm not the only one out there tucking dresses into bottoms!

Lucy in the Sky said...

that's some beautiful detailing there. I like the first look a lot mainly because it's easy to put together but it looks good! I also like the outfit with the...er...fascinator? is that what those things are called? o_O fascinating, indeed.

Clare said...

Love the remix, of course! And what a GORGEOUS dress! I would also layer it over a fun-colored turtleneck in the winter...the neck detailing would look great over a colorful fabric.

Leah F. Taas said...

I love the cut=out detail of the dress and the different ways you styled it. It's true, accessories can do wonders in changing the look of a single dress. Great styling!

caramelizedvintage said...

Ohh the lace-like detailing is great! I think you've demonstrated its versatility well enough with all those different outfits. :}

My favorite has got to be the green belt, floral(?) fascinator, and those tights. Perrrrrfect.

Kim said...

You made the perfect solution and, of course, you know just how to wear it!

KD said...

Definitely a nice option other than lace!

niftythriftyowl said...

nice! i hate having those items in your wardrobe that you like but just don't go with your other things. you can't get rid of it, but you can't wear it. yay for versatility!

oh and p.s. how do you keep up with over 50 comments? haha

Kat said...

i like the look with the green belt best, that hair band is amazing!

your clothing remixes are amazing. i love how you are able to remix clothing so well.

Kat said...

The cording detail is amazing. I like this dress best when you wore it with the green waist belt because it maintains your figure, without a waist belt you kind of lose your lovely waist which is a bit of a shame. Very cool dress though :)

Oh lovely! I always think I've spotted my fave and then I keep scrolling and can't decide :)

I think it's the fascinator outfit, though I love the tights in the next.

Rebecca I've been wondering, you seem to post such big photos at really high quality! When I just make mine a little bigger by editing the html I lose quality drastically despite starting with pretty large files. When you open them up big they look fine but on the blog they're quite rubbish looking. Any clues where I might be going wrong? I wondered if it's anything to do with the layout I'm using. Let me know if you've any ideas! :)
