Never Trust A Woman In A Mask

These photographs by Lars Botten fully convince me that I need an animal mask. Don't they rather remind you of a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde sort of adventure? Perhaps they held up an ice cream parlor before they hopped into their convertible and headed for the fields...

I love masks...but I prefer the type Holly put on in Breakfast. These ones would scare the sh*t out of me! LOL. Pictures are rad though in that 70's eerie way.

I can't decide if these are cute or terrifying...nonetheless, I want a fox one. I could probably do a rather excellent lion impression too what with my mane of hair lol.

People in masks such as this often leave me feeling a little creeped out with their unchanging expressions and hidden eyes, however these pictures just look so fun!

Oh to go on a roadtrip in such a gorgeous old car!

They look great, though masks always have tended to creep me out for some reason. The shoot is really cool, love the car. ^-^

Those masks (and the setting) belong in a science fiction book. Or perhaps a horror film? I'd freak a little bit if I drove by that car in real life...

I love masks especially the ones used at costume balls. Animal masks can be really cool though! xxoxoxo

I always get kind of creeped out by masks, especially those sort of ones... but they can also be very beautiful. I would love to go to a masked ball, for example. =] =].

oh my, i love these masks! i once curated an exhibition on the theme masks. combining beauty and spooky is such a great feeling.

I'm liking the bunny masks, although the slightly screwy-eyed carnivore freaks me out XDD

Whenever I look at animal masks I always remember the Guerrilla Girls and their fiery gorilla heads. One may not agree with their ways but you've got to admit, they actually make gorillas look good :P

p.s. I forgot to mention in my last comment that I love your new layout!

These are so wonderful. I have wanted a white rabbit mask and a Guy Fawkes mask (I suppose Americans will only recognise it as the V for Vendetta mask) for sooo long. Although...where would I put my glasses. Hope you are having a beautiful 4th of July dear :)

Great photos... They remind me a bit of Recuenco's fairytale images. Xxxc

I know what you mean about animal masks. I've been seeing them in photos constantly, and I'm now determined to find one.

AlicePleasance said...

That bunny mask is a popular one! And the pictures faturing it are almost always nice, like these ones.
By the way there's a sort of weirdly cool appeal in bunny masks...thinks of Donny Darko!

Fannah said...

The bunny reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.. :p it's cute though, but I prefer one of those.. less real ones ;)

The black and white, the models, the whimsy of the photo tones down the masks. i love it!

I wonder why animal masks are so prevalent in photography these days, especially fashion-y stuff like this?

Could it be a cheesy metaphor about fashion? Like "we all wear masks" or some stupid something like that? Probably they are just cute.

At any rate I like them a lot. What a funny little road trip!
