I've Got My Head, I've Lost My Leopard!

Thanks to Weardrobe's Closet project (where ten different Weardrobe members are invited each week to borrow clothes from the Closet for free) I have several new items to enjoy for awhile. It is quite nice to temporarily expand one's wardrobe without depleting one's wallet.
This dress from Anthropologie is one of the great pieces I am borrowing from "the Closet." Ironically, I think I look more retro in this modern dress than many of my vintage ones. I believe it is the tones, which really seem to emphasis my paleness. When I was in high school I was afraid to wear a lot of black because I always thought it would make me look like a goth or a vampire...
Outfit details: dress- Anthropologie via Weardrobe, belt- vintage, bag- Pull and Bear, shoes- Urban Outfitters, sunnies- Urban Outfitters, ring- Made Her Think
Here's a little sampling of the films I have been enjoying lately.
Bonnie and Clyde
Cleopatra
Daddy Long Legs
Bringing Up Baby

Your sweet plaid dress paired with that fab belt...love it!

I bet high school kids these days want to be pale because of the vampire fad. :D

Anyway, I just want to say that I admire you for taking these fashion photos. I've started posting fashion-y stuff on my personal blog and posing for the photos is the hardest part. I will definitely be taking cues from you, if you don't mind. :D

The dress looks great on you! And I say you should use the vampire-like paleness to your advantage, what with the Twilight craze. ;)

what a great idea the closet is. i get called a goth quite often, being pale & dark - when will people realise it is NOT a compliment!

Nice outfit!! Has your style been inspired by the films you've been watching lately? http://notthathaute.blogspot.com

Love the collar on your dress. And your ring! You have such great vintage/inspired accessories.

Such a cute dress! And red lipstick is definitely your thing. Seriously.

I love black. I think you only look gothic if you've got some sort of metal hanging off you and/or the makeup. Black is classy and I like that it highlights how pale I am.

Oh wow, that dress really does look vintage! I adore the collar on it. :)

There's nothing wrong with being pale! I wear black to purposley to show off my creamy pale skin! You should do the same!

Oh you to look lovely in that dress. The colour of that belt goes perfectly with that dress. Being pale is great, pale and interesting beats fake tan any day.

The collar on that dress is beautiful and so is your ivory skin. I had a friend with the same pale skin problem. She constantly wore bright colors to offset her translusent skin and black hair but people still asked her if she was a goth.

I adore Bonnie & Clyde!

Great dress! I love Anthropologie... it's one of my favorite places to shop (though I usually have to wait for things I like to appear in the sale racks).

Also adore your films... I don't think I've ever seen 'Daddy Long Legs'? Will have to find, I love a good tango. :)

Narcissique said...

I like very much this dress! I think that pale skin is the best for red lips ^^

This is off topic, but for Modcloth (I don't know if this is just me) the "horses" code wasn't working. Using "strawberry" did though, and it does the same thing.

I like the butterfly brooch on the belt of the dress. It's gorgeous. I can't believe they're remaking Bonnie and Clyde, with Hilary Duff. I have mixed thoughts on it.
