Last November Vogue Russia had a deceptively simple editorial featuring these Matryoshka dolls hand painted to resemble the styles of various imminent designers. Considering I have drawn nesting dolls in designer collections myself numerous times, these are some souvenirs I wish could be bought at the tourist traps...

Thanks for sharing, nonetheless.
Ahhhh the first one, with spike studs?! Like an accident waiting to happen, so intriguing... I want it. I just need to find myself a minimalist room now.
i have this raw wood babushka with baby ones in it that i havent painted yet, so these are very inspiring!
a family friend brought me a set of babushka dolls from russia a long time ago! these are so neat.
These are awesome! I'm really starting to tire of seeing spikes/studs everywhere though...

I love the cream one with the red lips! But they're all so lovely. My grandmother had a set that my sister and I always played with...but they were nothing like these:)

Re: Yes, lace is beautiful. I really don't know how to get my hands on the perfect piece, maybe I'll have to make it myself. However, I know lace is hard to work with, so I guess I just have to keep looking! =)
Thanks for commenting!
i love the second and the third one <3
Omg those are really pretty, i would love to have a collection of them!
I really like the 2nd and last one :)
I love russian dolls. I really want one of these now!
The spiked one looks awesome! :D
These are lovely. I've always wanted at least one set of Matroskas for my own too XD
The one wit studs are so fierce.
My friend and I were just checking out some Matryoshka dolls the other day. I was remembering a lovely set I had as a little girl, but sadly lost somehow. I really like the concept behind these! The second one down with the shapes and patterns is really pleasing to look at.
saw them, loved them. my favorites are the Giles and Margiela ones.
I used to have a normal one, which I wish I still had, because it would be totally awesome if I painted over the original paint!
the first one is great. the doll represents such a specific culture and to see her with spikes is cool :)
i've always wanted to start a collection of nesting dolls.
For a very very young age i have loved russian dolls and I want each and every one of these!
hello sweetheart!! They are great!! but if you want the right name for them than say Matroshka to them, this is the real russian name.
babushka is grandmother in russian!!
thank you for the post!! love them!!
@Kuhlchikk,
Thanks, but I actually knew that. I refer to them as Matroshka dolls in the post--the title was more of a reference to their history/classicness rather than a literal name for them...
