Paint Me A House Where We Both Can Live

These beautifully painted apartment buildings in Russia prove that city living doesn't have to be an eyesore. I'm especially partial to the gaudy red sailboat adrift on azure seas.

Those are so cool! I want to paint and live in an awesome apartment complex!

Wow! I agree, there is something outstanding about the sailboat. I can think of quite a few buildings that could do with such treatment, the art gallery near me for one, it's this godawful hunk of concrete without any trace of austere minimalism to redeem itself.

They remind me of a book I had when I was a kid--I wish I could remember the name--about a man who painted his house like that, in a neighborhood where they all looked the same, so then everyone painted their houses like in these pictures!

The title of this post is making me lose my mind. It reminds me of a line in a song, only I can't remember how it goes or anything, oh dear!

Well who wouldn't want to live in one of those?? I need one just for me and me only ;) I think this could make a great project or something, too, when like your neighborhood is celebrating something :p

Russian stuff is so cool. The building with the hot air ballon is my favorite. It would be really fun to live in those buildings, but maybe across the street would be better so you could see the pictures.

Oh fun Russia fact when the architect was done building St. Petersburg, Peter asked if he could build any thing better the architect said yes and Peter stabbed his eyes out.

WendyB said...

Some painting like that would certainly perk up my neighborhood.

Trendology said...

Which would be better? Living in one of these buildings or living across the street? Both would be quite nice.

I love the hot air balloon and that red sail boat :) I drove past these apartments in Greenwich over the weekend with multi coloured polka dots all over the building, you can't help but smile when looking at it!

And on the Teen Vogue thing. I know what you mean. As much as I love Taylor Swift & Leighton Meester, they're definitely commercial girls. And Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus... uhhh don't get me started =(

Absolutely wonderful! I've seen building art like that where I live, it's mostly students from art schools that ask permission to paint on buildings and such.

This is really quite amazing! I'm always in awe of what artists are able to do out on the streets and on buildings. I like how you have to see these on a large scale to recognize what the image is.

Oh, and I love your new layout!

Kat said...

Wow, awesome! 'Which apartment is yours?' 'Oh the one in the hot air balloon'.
