An Imperfect Copy

"Page by page I slowly and lucidly reread everything I've written and find that it's all worthless...What grieves me is that my best is no good, and that another whom I dream of, if he existed, would have done better. Everything we do, in art or in life, is the imperfect copy of what we thought of doing." Fernando Pessoa

Love the theory. Sounds like Plato, what we learned with Greek class the other day. He believed that there is some kind of 'other world' above us, where our souls go in between lives. It's not like heaven, but he called it the Formworld or Ideaworld, which is the real deal, and everything that's over here is just a small an indeed imperfect copy of what's up there. We learn by that ours souls remember things they have seen up there. A beautiful theory, I think..

Adore the outfit ;)

Loved Eyeliah's interview - you're so cute! Love this dreamy set of photos too, that dress is exquisite!

I see this so much in my own work, in everything I do. While the result may be an imperfect copy of what I wanted, it is an honest attempt at duplication through which I can still be true to myself.

Great interview, and I love this outfit and the photos of the field.

Wow, I wouldn't actually have thought that this dress is from H&M - I like it a lot!
The interview is great, it is always fun to get to know things about fellow bloggers :)

Hey, thanks for mentioning the interview. :-) I have loved your blog 4ever so it was so fun to get your answers. You look so great in red btw, that dress is a dream. :-)

That dress is perfection. Is that new H&M? I haven't been in a while. And thanks for the comment! I suppose there are quite a few small schools in the PA countryside; yours just sounds an awful lot like my friend's. I went to a similar tiny college, and it was in a beautiful location but pretty darn boring. :P

I LOVE THE DRESS AND THE JACKET AND THE PLACE OMG. I'm squealing right now can you believe it :D where do you live?

You have such wonderful scenery in your outfit pictures. And the fourth pic is a great capture of the hay field in the wind, very pretty and the yellowness of it is just perfect! It reminds me of illustrations of country life in my old children's books.

"Everything we do, in art or in life, is the imperfect copy of what we thought of doing."
That quote really struck me as very true and so applicable to my own life... or my view of my life. Perhaps I need to buy myself some new rose-coloured lenses. :)

your dress is really sweet, and that quote is stunning. it's perfect.

KD said...

Ah, that quote is so accurate! Who would've thought Nowhere, PA would have such lovely scenery/dresses?

I want to marry your shoes. Please? We would have a long and happy life together.

hey! I'm new to your blog...well, I've been obsessively reading it for a while but I thought it was time to introduce myself, and just say I adore your blog and your style. I guess you're used to hearing that, but still, you have an absolutely gorgeous taste in clothes and how to wear them, and I love your philosophy of "it's not the number of clothes you have, it's the number of ways you wear them" - it's inspired me to just stare at my wardrobe and think of new ways to put my clothes together - I've come up with several new outfits I wouldn't have dared to wear before. So yeah, thank you so much for being an inspiration, and for making my day extra pretty :)

Anyway, I love the dress you're wearing today - and I love the way you pair it with a structured blazer - it makes the whole look beautiful!! xxx

We are all imperfect, but these pictures are close to perfection. And at least, they're very real. And that's what really matters I reckon.

There's always so much poetry and romantic spirit in your pictures.. loving it.
