Feeling Literary Part II

"A book must be an ice-axe to break the seas frozen in your soul." Franz Kafka
I repeat, there are few things lovelier than a shelf full of books.

Love books, finally finding the time to read them now!

I'm very intrigued by the X-rated Adult Movie Posters book :P

do you prfer to stack your books or to put them in a nice orderly row. Ever since I heard that rodarte have a colour co-ordinated bookshelf I've been colour coding everything cds, books, wardrobe. its great fun. Also, Tracey Emin - Strangeland is a great read. very emotional

I literally sighed aloud when I saw the first picture. I agree that there are few things more glorious than a shelf of beautiful books.

Mich said...

So I think you should share your favorite books and what you're currently reading. Did you ever finish War and Peace (I remember you reading that like last year or something!)

lisa said...

Ooh I definitely agree!

I like how some of the book owners have placed little knickknacks on the bit of shelf that juts out past the books. I do the exact same thing on my bookcase.

Oh girl, I know exactly what you mean.

Great post. I'm quite a book nerd myself, which I guess fueled my major as English. I'm currently reading Pride&Prejudice. A good book is always in style.

ah bookshelves
great for doo-dads and useless little figurines
and books of course
makes me want to go to the library and rent a wagon load for summer reading

Really beautiful pics!
And... today I saw here in my village a girl that was exact to you!
It was really weird... haha

I absolutely adore books. My bookshelves are starting to get too full and I can't bear to part with any of my books, so I think I'll have a buy a new one.

I agree completely, and down with the damn Kindle.

They're all amazing, but that last one is my favorite, despite the fact that the bottom shelf is not books but DVDs.

Wonderful photos. I especially like the toys placed around them. :)

that quote is pretty serious business ;)

I love these bookshelf posts. fascinating.

I agree with the above comments - what have you been reading lately?

Oh lovely photos! I always tend to pass on my books when I'm done due to lack of space but this looks so cool. And yes, Dracula is the ultimate foreboding Vampire!

So cool hahaha my family loves the Joy of Cooking! I wish I was more motivated to use it when I was there!

Ahh, books, books, books. I need more books.

I wish my bookshelf was all matching colour combinations like these.

I love looking at other people's book shelves! My sister has all of her books arranged by color. Also, at estate sales, you can look at a person's book collection and make guesses about their personality.

i love to read. books are my good friends.

rawin said...

Oh I know what you mean. Which reminds me that I have a summer reading list at least that high.

BTW, in that first picture, where is that bird painting from? It's amazing.

It's always interesting to see how other people store their books--a window into their mind, sort of. I love all of these!

Sales Rack Raider said...

I wholeheartedly agree. I just got a bookshelf and had tons of fun arranging the books in it.

The ones you featured are just gorgoues!

Awesomeness!

Fannah said...

It's so sad because half of the books in my book case and in others among the house, I haven't even read yet and that's all because of school. We have to read six English, four Dutch, three French and three German books in one year (every language one in six weeks!) which leaves only so much bedtime for books I actually want to read..

I so love overly crowded bookshelves. I just love the thought of so many new things waiting to be discovered on such a tiny shelf!

OmnisLucis said...

ooh, this is like literary heaven! i have way too many (but never enough) books and every time i change continents (which i've been doing pretty much every other year recently)i pay crazy amounts of shipping to get them to the next destination.

Raquel said...

these images are beuatiful. books are one of the things in life, I bought two yesterday, it's just too bad they're a little expensive, or else I'd buy more!

My sentiments exactly. =) Books are probably the best decoration for any room.

Yes, yes, yes and even more yes. I so need to buy some more shelves actually, I have piles of books on every surface of my room at the moment, and no shelf space for them!

Oh, you have the elephant cup! I had the elephant cup when I was little, and my brother had the alligator. A few years ago I found a set with the alligator, a lion and a giraffe. No elephant though! I like the display with the Little Golden Book and other toys; I may have to steal the idea.
