End Of Year Madness

My college has a lot of random and wonderful traditions, such as our "Midnight Scream" before every day of finals. The other day it was time for another epic tradition of ours--The Duct Tape Wars. The battle is staged with North Complex dormitories against South Complex dormitories, represented by red and blue respectively. This year there was a twist as halfway through the war a new army emerged on the scene wearing green and united the other two opposing sides. There are rules and referees to our war and the biggest one is that all weapons much be made from duct tape.
Outfit details: dress- vintage, shoes- secondhand, jacket- H&M, bag- Pull and Bear I don't wear this dress often, but I do try to wear it in a slightly different way every time I bring it out...

Such a beautiful, beautiful dress. :)

Those sound like fun traditions! :) Especially the midnight scream (though I can see how that could get annoying...). Once when I was in elementary school and we were doing a big day of testing, I had a teacher that took my class outside and let us scream as loud as we wanted. So fun!!

I love random traditions!! I went to Oxford, which was full of them! Your black jacket is awesome, so versatile!

Oh my uni has fun traditions too! Including running into the North Sea at sunrise after drinking all night on the 1st of May and getting dressed up in ridiculous outfits (I was an Oompa Loompa) and having a foam fight in the Quad. Duct tape war does sound fun though.

That dress is lovely, I like how different it looks each time you've worn it.

The duct tape war pictures are absolutely fabulous. That looks like incredible fun--whoever thought of that was a genius! And I love your dress. My favorite was when you wore it with the blue skirt.

A duct-tape war sounds so much fun. I'm sure you had a blast.

We don't have any traditions at our uni. It tends to be the more 'prestigous' ones such as Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrews, etc, that have traditions. They sound like a lot of fun though! (except the midnight scream, that would annoy me, I'm usually tucked up in bed by midnight!)

Luna said...

those traditions look so crazy! my school always used to organise something normal like a bbq or a sports day, nothing as crazy as ducktape :-D

Your school has such fun traditions. I think my campus is too big for these sorts of things, but I guess I don't know what happens after hours, since I don't live on campus.

That dress has the coolest print!

Gorgeous dress! Very ladylike and chic. And the photos above reminded me of Role Models with Paul Rudd. Which is a movie so terrible I find it quite hilarious.

I would have loved to have the Midnight Scream tradition when I was at university. I can't believe it hasn't caught on worldwide!

I love to ear about college traditions, but I think mine is the best :)

You may battle well with the boys with your own light-saber :) - the source of which is apparently 'Gus?'
I'm curious what power we can derive from Nasha? Would she be jealous that she doesnt have a leash that doesnt transparently glow?

We also have lots of random traditions at my school even though we're not a college. I love your dress!

The Duct Tape Wars looks fun! My alma mater banned Midnight Yells at the dorms because the neighbors complained about it, but the tradition is alive and well in off-campus housing. Another tradition was to jump into a fountain after the last final exam. Some people bring lawn chairs and sit in the middle, and others bring champagne.

The dress is very pretty. Love the way you rework it each and every time.

Oh my god, I find it so hilarious when you try to act like a normal person that might be interested in what's going on around in the world.

Really. Tell the truth, you just got lost and happen to come upon people, right?

Nadia said...

Or, you got up at the crack of dawn when you thought it was safe to self-indulge in pictures of yourself to put online. And found that there were people out so you just pretended to be there for it. And you'll keep faking it until you own it.

I love this dress!!! It reminds me of the line I'm designing right now in my Fashion Illustration class.

I love when you wear it just as is and with the purple skirt too, that really seems to pull the colors from the pattern. I also like the green jacket and big purple scarf paired with it.

love the dress.

we have a midnight scream too but I don't think it's practiced quite as much... I forgot about it this year because while last Wednesday night was the first night of finals, my first final is tomorrow.

the duct tape war looks even more awesome though!

i love your blue nails!

i want that dress. please. you look lovely :)

MizzJ said...

Haha how come all the warriors are crazed men and no women? I guess we women aren't dumb enough to paint ourselves and pummel each other with duct-tape weapons ;)

What a cool idea to wear a skirt over a dress like that, I'll have to try it!

aww! pretty dress and CUTE CUTE pup!!!

Manja said...

Oooh....such a nice dress and I love it how it is so matchy matchy with your nailpolish :)

Duct Tape Wars! One word: Awesome! I wish we had such cool traditions at my school. Looks like there's only guys fighting, but no wonder...every girl would probably get smashed, haha

The Clothes Horse said...

@Nadia, either you are full of crap or your sarcasm isn't translating online. The battle took place at 4pm, I especially arranged my schedule so I could be there with the crowd to view it. It is one of my favorite events all year and I always snag a place in the front of the crowd. Just because I run a blog that shows pictures of myself doesn't mean I am an ego-centric person. If you knew me at all you would know better. Stop making assumptions and/or bad jokes.

haha, it is supremely hard for me to imagine you at this event! very humorous. ah, school traditions can be so random ;)

love the way you've mixed the dress in different ways....

ZombieLace said...

It's a really cute dress, I like it just plain with the belt like you're wearing it here!

Maeko said...

I don't see any women in that mix! Not very fun...But I'm glad they get to indulge in a Greek tradition that seems much more Greek than toga/drinking parties.

You are incredibly versatile. I admire creativity and diversity in a wardrobe, and you always manage to combine things in a new way that has the most vintage, colourful spin!

This Nadia person: how could she be so vile? She doesn't even have a profile that you can look back at. What a stupid thing to say about an incredibly clever girl who way more intelligent than anyone gives credit? FASHION BLOG, hello! Does that NOT scream right away what the content of one's blog? What an idiot. Anyone who reads you regularly will know that you know and immerse yourself in as many different spheres as possible.

I mean, you traveled the world. I wonder what sort of foul little bubble Nadia inhabits that makes her so cantankerous and skeptical.

I, for one, enjoy the FUCK out of your blog. So bravo to you.
