These book sculptures by Su Blackwell have been blowing my mind for months. It is as if the pages of the stories have come to life in more than just the reader's imagination... Helen Musselwhite does far more amazing things with construction paper than I ever believed possible. A final, worthy literary piece would be this book ring by Ana Cardim.
The book ring is so cute! And I've always loved those 3D paper sculptures; The amount of patience; work and creativity involved never fail to astound me!
PS/ Love your Picture An Hour post! You make me want to try; to do the same:D
IRYC (in response to your comment): Sometimes I look at the pictures of your sketches and see much of her style in yours--not to say that you're 100% similar, or that you copy her style...but I think your styles are similarly intriguing, charming and fun.
Fantastic sculptures, I was such a fan of popup books when I was a little girl. Owning one of these masterpieces would be very much an extension of that... also love the book ring idea! I'd spend all day doodling! xo
holy crap, you know what is weird and awesome all at once? i *just* met this woman today who teaches this at the book arts gallery and she has an mfa in BOOK SCULPTURES. nutty, aye?

these are so precious! Can you, like, buy them? It reminds me of Disney cartoons i used to watch as a kid were someone is reading a story and the characters started pouring out of the pages!
I have been obsessed with with cut-out paperwork and pop-up books for the last couple of months. They're work is truly unique and takes it to a level one could never have imagined.
These are so unbelievably beautiful and detailed!! I actually watched a lady making paper sculptures before an art exhibition, and the precision that goes into it is so astounding.
