Where Ocean Meets The Sky

"She had not expected anything like this. From that first moment, in a way she could never explain, the Meadows claimed her and made her their own. As far as she could see they stretched on either side, a great level sea of green, broken here and there by a solitary graceful elm. Was it the fields of sugar cane they brought to her mind, or the endless reach of the ocean to meet the sky? Or was it simply the sense of freedom and space and light that spoke to her of home?" --Elizabeth George Speare, The Witch of Blackbird Pond
Outfit details: jacket- H&M, sweater- Banana Republic, skirt- Forever 21, shoes- secondhand, bag- Pull and Bear

These Zara shoes are one of the most impossible things to put on, but I envision myself wearing them quite a bit this spring and summer. They make me feel like a ballerina again.

And I was thinking of when the butterfly dress would make its first spring appearance! I so love seeing you wearing that dress. Great pairing with the Zara flats, so fairy-like.
Glad to see the weather over there is so great.

These photos are really gorgeous! I love that very last one of you walking away. It's raining and grey in the UK...so these photos are so much more appealing to look at!

Your butterfly dress is so lovely and I like the second set of photographs, that you are so away from the camera, reminded me of some safari editorials, good inspiration dear.

The last set of photos are my favorite. I wear glasses so that is the first thing I notice in an outfit, and yours are so cute!

I'm sure it was unintentional, but I love how your skirt + lipstick matches.

The print of that ASOS dress is so lovely. The shape is lovely and hangs just right on you. Love the dancey dancey shoes, too! There are times where I will put up with shoes too small, too tight, or shoes that just take forever to get on just because it puts me in a certain mood. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one!

Also, it makes me happy to see you wear your glasses! Girls with glasses are so underrated. And I'm not just saying that because I wear glasses (well, maybe a little, haha).

I hope this doesn't come off as peculiar, but I've been reading your blog for over a month without commenting. You seem to get a lot of attention and I was worried I wouldn't make enough of an impression to initiate a real friendship. Anna Liggett showed me your blog because she thought we had the same taste in.. life, I suppose. Whimsical, restless, wise, etc. The reason I'm commenting now is because The Witch of Blackbird Pond is one of my favorite books, and Madeleine L'Engle is one of my favorite authors. I was so floored when I read your quote from the latter! I didn't know anyone else remembered books like that. I still read and reread them :)

Warmly,
Danielle

The Clothes Horse said...

Hi Danielle,
That's so sweet of Anna to pass my little blog along (I still don't really think of it like a "big" thing or anything...).
I am very devoted to L'Engle--I was also going through a L'Engle faze recently and re-read about six of her novels. Then I re-read 3 of Elizabeth George Speare's books--Witch of Blackbird Pond is still my favorite. I keep returning to these novels and authors and there's something of their "juvenile fiction" that is timeless and ageless.
Anyway, thank you for your comment. If you want to talk more you can e-mail me (thenewclotheshorse@yahoo.com).
