Life Between The Pages

"There seems to be so much in me I want to say. But it is all so big. I can't find ways to say what is really in me. Sometimes it seems to me that all the world, all life, everything had taken up residence inside of me and was clamoring for me to be the spokesman." --Jack London, Martin Eden
I feel alive and moved by the power of the written word--and yet it is a paradox. For this vibrant realm of life that is released upon the humble page I spend countless hours with my eyes fastened on a dead and dry thing--neglecting companionship, studies, and all else in pursuit of that awakening of spirit and mind. There is no balance. I feel it is so inhumanly possible to be in two places at once and at the moment I am dwelling in a novel...

Cute!
Where do you buy most of your dresses?

I know what you mean! I get lost in books so easily and neglect just about everything else.
Cute outfits by the way. I love your last dress & belt combo.

the combination of the dark coloured dress with the green belt looks so nice..

love the place your pictures are taken..is near your campus?
(cause if it is you're so lucky..)

What you wrote is so wonderful and fitting!

you have so many cute dresses. and you always know when a a book is great because you think about it for all hours of the day, and some how, your own life just can't quite compare!

books are intoxicating...at least thats the only adjective i can think to describe it. it's almost embarassing how often I open up a book simply to look for a quote and then consequently end up reading a chapter....

loving the two dresses, particualrly the first one, i'm slightly obsessed with nice, full skirts. the setting is also gorgeous, what i'd give to wander around there for a day!

i love that button front dress.

and yes, i know what you mean about being trapped in a novel. it's been a long while since i've been sucked into a good book though. this summer i plan on revisiting some of my old favorites.

We can easily lose ourselves but thankfully a book doesn't damage the spirit like other things we could lose ourselves in.

That first dress is so cute - great structure! :) I've been bad about reading books lately - it seems only picture-books can hold my attention..

OKAY favorite photos of you ever! You look so gorgeous, and something about you just fits in with the grassy field. You look so lovely!

I love, love, love the first dress! It's absolutely amazing.

love your second dress, and the blue nail polish!
what you said about books is really interesting. I think the magic of literature is that it takes physical items - paper, ink, computers - and combines them with the imagination and emotion of the human mind, to create such powerful stories and ideas.

Sometimes I find it hard to pull myself out of my little bubble too. A lot of introspection can become isolating. It worries me. Lovely photography as always.

dwelling in a novel is no bad thing ;-) i'd rather be in murakami's japan or dante's paradiso than in the midst of cantab finals lol. gorgeous shoes... loving the river pics lately!

That last photo is spectacular. Sometimes I have a similar feeling, but not about books... more about the internet. And far from being dead, it's so alive and everchanging and I know that I can never read it all.

Also your hair is getting soooo long, it looks lovely.

i love your first dress most! and you pair it so well with those earrings and shoes :)

I just love it when a novel captures my imagination, and I really miss the opportunities to get lost in a novel. Sadly, there isn't much time for me to read fictions/novels these days, so I'd say treasure the opportunity whenever you have one.

The first dress has a lovely vintage feel to it. I just love how you accessories vintage/vintage-inspired pieces with modern accents, like the earrings and the nail polish.

Books also exert this kind of magical power on me. It's just like when you are reading a book and you just planned to read for half an hour, you suddenly get totally sucked in and spend hours reading!
Your pictures are so nice and I see you found yourself a field :D

Oh I know what you mean, it's very interesting reading.... I read to feel more alive, in ways, and yet, am I really living if I only have my head buried in pages all day?

Anyway, beautiful photos, love your outfits and the setting!

Your words are so beautiful. How do you find time to read, blog and do all your schoolwork? I never have time to read anything other than school stuff except over breaks.

The majority of the time (like 9/10 times) I will choose a night in with a book over a night out with the girls. Oddly enough, my girlfriends tend to follow suit, so when we get together, we chat about our new favourite books.

I'm rather enamoured with the tan shoes you're wearing in the last set. They seem like the perfect summer flat!
