The Fields Vs. The Streets

Apparently some schools in my area are closing early tomorrow due to heat...yes, you read that correctly: school closures due to warm weather! Unfortunately, my college doesn't think we are quite as prone to heat related weaknesses as other schools...
Outfit details: dress- H&M, fascinator- vintage, bag- Pull and Bear, shoes- Kenneth Cole Reaction

While the wide open expanses on my campus are ideal in sunny weather and seem to make my fascinators seem appropriate for daily life, I must confess they are not my favorite place to pose. I would much prefer a graffiti covered wall in a city--and have snapped a number of outfit shots in such locations when given the chance. My inner hippie might emerge in a green field, but I still feel at heart I am a city girl trapped in rural nowhere (with no shops!)...

I noticed in your

oh wow the locations? i actually both liked! the graffiti vs greenery! both look amazing. your green dress is perfect for the greenery location. and those flats with holes are so cute! and the hair accessory is my fave one. you look great as always lady.

and as usual amazing shots! :)

That green dress looks so pretty on you! I like both types of pics equaly, streets and fields, they both have such a different feel to them.I can't decide which I like best!

Now you have me curious about what the temperature in your town is!

I love your graffiti outfit shots. Vancouver is pretty squeaky clean and I remember being astonished and delighted when I was in Mexico City and saw the graffiti and mural-style advertisements on any available wall space. There's so much vibrancy there.

I love all your graffiti wall pictures, but the ones you take in nature are always my favourites! Love the fascinator and the dress.

Can't believe some schools are closing due to heat! Insaaane. x

all of your graffiti wall shots are awesome.

the fascinator really does go with the green grass + trees! and i like it when you post old outfit photos side by side like that, i would never realise you took photos with graffiti behind you so much!

i love the city photos! really? closed campus due to heat?? omg i wish we did that here!

I love your headband :) That first photograph is stunning, and I love the shot of you walking up the trunk of the tree. And I do love the graffiti backdrops, the photograph of you pulling the jacket over your face looks fantastic!

Ahh and how I wish schools here closed for hot weather. I remember at school, the temperature was in the high 30s (a 400 year old brick country house with no a/c or fans), so they graciously let us undo our top buttons and loosen our ties slightly. Haha I hate looking sloppy, so my tie was done up the whole time, with my pocket square, which I technically wasn't allowed to wear on the uniform, in a perfect three peak.

I feel you.

I love them both.

And agreed, those yellow shoes are delightful.

I love the hairpiece you're wearing! The grass looks so bright and pretty and your shoes are lovely! I think graffiti makes a really interesting background for outfit posts as long as it's not something vulgar. I really like the one where you're holding your jacket over your nose! xxoxoxoxo

well, at least your background now are very seasonally-appropriate!! :)

this reminds me of when it was negative 15 degrees and my school sent out frost bite alert warnings but refused to cancel class! grrr!

Green suits you so well! And I love your hair like that. You make it all look so effortless x

yes, but the trick is you look at home and lovely in either backdrop ;)

Heh, wanna trade? No one cat calls you and honks their horn at you in the woods.

the fascinator is so pretty and goes really well with your dress.

I'm a city girl myself, but how I would love to take a break from all the hustle and bustle for a while! I wish I could be at that field you're in. Looks so peaceful.

jayne said...

i love the contrast in the setting, indeed you do look at home in both :)

Oh I can't imagine schools closing over here because of the heat! Sounds like you're having crazy hot weather!

Love your shots, the vibrant colour of the grass and your yellow shoes is just lovely.

seriously, school closures due to heat?!?!?!? can it really be that hot where you are?? i'm intrigued!!

I've never heard of a school closing due to heat! You'd think the students would be safe from the heat in air-conditioned classrooms, right? Love the fascinator!

How hot does it have to get for schools to close due to heat? It's not even Summer yet! :) Here I believe it's when it's over 38 Celsius (100.4 Fahrenheit).

Love both the field & city pics!

I love your photography! I would love either background!

i guess we all want what we can't have. Where I come from, it's high rise and more high rise. Would love to walk out into a meadow and fields of greens. nonetheless, im still urban at heart.

btw, love the fascinator!

yulanda said...

Are the Kenneth Cole shoes comfortable? I contemplated getting the exact same ones Solestruck when they offered me shoes, but went with a pair of Seychelles instead.

You are lucky it's so warm! It snowed on me again today!

the look on the first pic is elegant, with the shoes and funny by the colors. Love the street style. Trendy and comfortable after all.

Diane said...

Huh, I never noticed how many times you have posed in front of graffiti-covered walls before. It's really quite neat to see all of those photos in a set; the graffiti adds some great color to your photos.

I do love the field you pose in though! The grass is a lovely shade of green. And that fascinator looks fantastic resting atop your head - you pull it off wonderfully! It's a great accessory for the summer heat you appear to be having.

would love to raid you closet at all your lovely dresses..hahaha i love..=)

i love the graffiti walls!

It's actually normal in Germany that high schools close early because of heat. We had that at my school around once or twice a year :D

That's funny, I think I am the other way around. I am rather a rural girl. But well....I enjoy living in the Netherlands now, with all the shops so close because here in Germany there is just one drug store in my village where you can "shop", haha
I love those yellow shoes and the whole composition of the first outfit. Very nice!

I love the fascinator! It's so sprite-like and this location is perfect for it.

I would love to live where you live--it looks so beautiful--but probably not for more than a couple months. I'm a city girl at heart.

But your greenery is so pretty! I hail from a land of urban brick walls and graffiti, so, dear god this is an awful pun, but the grass is greener on the other side! Hah! Apologies for the bad joke, love the blog!

I wish that can happen here!!!! It has been SO hot lately! to the extent that it rained today & it is still hot & stuffy :(

Love your dress and fascinator, green is my favourite colour. And those shoes, I remember them from last year. I still can't find a pair of perfect yellow flat sandals and it's getting frustrating...

Hey, aren't there any kids doing graffiti where you live? Or is the law so strict they just don't even bother? In any case, there must be a place where they do legal stuff, and these are usually the most beautiful, as they take their time and create masterpieces. Ask and thou shall learn!

PS. Yes, I had noticed my rose-pink flats are the same style as your red ones! But I didn't know they were also the same brand! Small world.

that fascinator is darling.

I absolutely love everything about your outfit in the field...the green dress (lovely color, too!), the necklace, the bag, the shoes...but I must say, there is something always interesting about graffiti backdrops. The graffiti's never the same...and so many people contributed to the walls in all those different places. And it also doesn't hurt that I want just about every single one of your outfits in those pics!

Luna said...

all that graffiti makes for great photo backgrounds, unfortuntatly my local council don't like it, so as soon at the art appears it is scrubbed off :-( thats the problem of living in a world heritage city sob sob

The fascinator is beautiful, it looks so fairy tale like. Actually, I really think you look like a fairy in the second photo!

Those yellow slingbacks are so cute! I love that first picture too! Graffiti walls are good, but that field treated you well!

I know how you feel about Pennsylvania though ha ha I just to live in a town that was seriously a MAP DOT and nothing else and the closest mall was ALLENTOWN! ha ha.

Oh I just love that green dress/yellow shoes in the grass photo so much.

I didn't know they shut down schools because of heat! Schools will shut down here due to just a little bit of ice on the roads, haha, and friends from cold-weather states always laugh at me about it, but I didn't know it went the other way too!
