Warmer weather always seems to fill me with the need to be near the ocean again. I am not someone who can spend long hours bathing in the sun or frolicking in the waves, but I can happily pass the day away seated in a spot of shade or floating on a pontoon boat with a novel feel the waves roll under me...

My first pictures of myself in brilliant spring sunshine show how truly pale I am...rather reminds me of "Snow White" who was a fairy tale princess I never held too much admiration for. Now Scheherazade was a lady I could understand and admire... I think you look quite lovely pale, although I do know the feeling myself. There are times where I think, "I can rock this pale thing, no problem!" and other times when I think, "Ohmygosh get a tan, whitey."

Ah, sailing around the San Juan's sounds so nice about now. My parents are getting our boat ready for the season (if it ever stops raining) so next time you're in the Pacific Northwest, come up to Vancouver - I've got a boat and the Gulf Islands are waiting!

As I've gotten older though, it doesn't bother me much. I wear sunscreen religiously, and I just comfort myself with the fact that the girls who hit up tanning beds are going to look a lot older than me in a few years. I hope.

Oooh yay, that's one of my favourite poems :) I have a cloth bound book with a collection of poems by Tennyson, he was by faaar better than the current poet laureate!
