Blown Away

I don't know enough about what Leigh Lezark does when she's not being an "it" girl to be a fan or hater, but I must say her bold use of hot pink is making me re-think my dislike of all shades of pink. She manages to make it look edgy instead of girlish. Photos via Garance Dore and Stylesightings
Also, does Louise carry a personal wind machine around? She so often appears to be elegantly ruffled by a strong breeze... Dans Paris and Stylesightings

It still never fails to surprise me how Louise looks good in EVERY situation. I would have just looked haggard and embarassed if my skirt is being blown up!

love the use of hot pink, it's so brilliant.

i also wish i had a personal wind machine so i could walk around with my hair blowing about perfectly...it seems louise does this quite well :-)

ooh, i love the top-left pic!
and the 2nd photo of louise, very marilyn-monroe-like. :)

i dont know about a wind machine but that miss louise always seems to be carryin a cig whenever i see her photographed! i cannot decide if that makes her more or less elegant.

so, does leigh lezark still tote herself as a hipster or has she moved on to just being a fashionista?

cuteseas said...

ah i wish i looked like Louise when the wind blew at me!

taha cute! i too have been experiencing lust for pink of late... hmmmmmm. might just stick to bright pink nails until summer sun rolls in tho :-D

i know that moment where the skirt blows up in the wind far too well. sigh. she looks so elegant tho! i always manage to look like an idiot... the material of her skirt looks so ethereal in that last pic!

i used to dislike wearing anything pink, but i've started to like it as well! i think finding exactly the right shade of pink gives you a new outlook on the color in general.

i need to get me a personal wind machine, i'm thinking...

Tina { Luphia Loves... } said...

her style is so chic & totally make the bright pink work!!

Hehe, I've been wondering the same thing about Louise. She always manages to make the wind work to her advantage.

Rebecca said...

I wish I could look that good when it's windy out!

Amelia said...

I'm not usually one for hot pink, but the details and silhouettes are so sophisticated that she really makes it work. It often looks rather trashy.

Oh, I love Louise.

wind machine comment = make me laugh! She does always tend to find the most flattering breezes to pose in...

Believe me, if this girl can fit the wind blower in her purse, there will be a lot of windblown pictures here very soon.

Hi well for starters a friend of mine love your blog and got me to read it. Whats I have seen so far it looks interesting. Your perspective on fashion and life seems to be intriguing. But I must admit your complex; you have the heart of either a poet or a philosopher, however you seem to be absorbed by the fashion world. So may I ask you this and please be honest. Do you feel that your swept up by what the multimedia and fashion world urge people to be? What I mean do you feel like your losing your identity or your self?(I am not saying your a conformist) That to conform to what the world advertises is somehow taking a piece of your original self and replacing it with something that is alien, and you feel like you lost something on the way and can't find it. When you look at yourself in the mirror you have to ask the questions. "Who am I and why am I really here?"

Constança said...

I guess I've never seen a photo of Louise where she wasn't wearing some serious outfit or didn't look good!

Winnie said...

Only after reading this did I realise that I have never seen you in pink, I guess now I know why!

Louise always looks great, I like how she can easily change between styles!

Whim said...

How I wish I had a slight breeze always following me, though it may cause problems when wearing a particularly short and full skirt...

tofuscloset said...

i love the last 2 photos a lot!!! the outfit in the first is so cute! =)

Leigh's SHOES are what I'm lusting after. White/grey shoes with dark tights. <3

Hotness.

Hot pink is so hot. By definition. And intrinsically.

Hot.

Trisch said...

I'm starting to re-think pink too. Just because I need a little more brightness in my closet.

I WISH I had a fan following me everywhere so I could always have windblown hair!

i just saw louse's photograph yesterday and inmediately fell in love with it. she looks adorable.

i had never seen the first girl before, nor had i seen anyone wearing that shade of pink and like it. but i do, i love it. still.... i'm pretty sure i'd look ridiculous with that.

@Anonymous (6:13pm): I think you and I have vastly different views of fashion. Fashion can be art. Dressing to express who you are is the opposite of buying into an industry and losing your identity. I'm not swept away by anything except my own passion to be creative in all aspects--including the way I dress. There's no conformity, but individuality in pursuing what you find beautiful and trying to match your dress to your imagination/personality/self.
As for answering the questions "who am I and why am I really here?" I know who I am--but I think it would take a lifetime to realize why I am here--and even then not arrive at a satisfactory answer. I don't lead a frivolous, self-centered life if that is your concern--because in the end I don't believe we are here merely to satisfy our own desires but in order to do good.

She pulls off pink great. Somehow I think that if I wore such a violent shade of pink it would come across as awfully tacky.

Yuka said...

lol personal wind machine? what a thought! they are both cute!

That's a good idea about the personal wind machine. I might just start doing that.

And, of course, I love the hot pink. I just posted about my love for it today, actually. xxx

Both looks are awesome, but my favourite is Louise she's looks gorgeous in every situation..A personnal wind machine is definitely a brillant idea :p

Diana said...

I normally don't read the comments, (and I have no idea how I missed this post in my Reader) but I love your answer to anonymous.

On a relevant note, the last photo of Louise is sexy! I'm sure it's the leg, but the glasses add to it.

Hot pink is tough to pull off, but Leigh does it well.
