Agathe of the no longer running Stylebytes rocked a turban like no one else.

Prada's spring 2007 RTW collection was rife with jewel-toned and satin-y turban goodness.

The Sartorialist snapped this lady re-mixing her turban in possibly the most elegant, modern incarnation to date.

Hmm, I was actually just thinking about posting on the Sart and Missoni pics, but it wouldn't have occured to me to put them together. I love a good jewel-toned turban
Yikes! Second photo of Agathe, <3.
love the sartorialist shots!
I saw the Missoni ads on Foto Decadent yesterday and fell in love. They're so summery and elegant.
Nice to see those old photos of Agathe.
I love turbans, and this is a great post on them!
i'm with you - these look so cool. I love the prada one...
Very neat! These remind me of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard.
I always loved Agathe's turban, she wore it so well! Oh, I miss Agathe!
P.S. Thank you for reminding me that the word for "colorful fan thingies" are pinwheels when you commented on my last post! I couldn't remember that word for the life of me.
agathe's style is amazing and she really is one of very few people who can make this look SO great.
I have a rose colored 1920s inspired turban that I've been trying to figure out how to wear for a while now. Still not sure!
When the turban first came I wasn´t too fond of it, but I think it´s growing on me... Some things need time :)
Those ads are wonderful, so colourful and lively. The turban is actually a really good way to keep hair off the face during summer...i like using pretty scarfs when i tan.
I miss Style Bytes :(
Hmm, I've never really thought about a turban before, but I should because these ladies look so fantastic in theirs!
I love turbans! The printed Missoni ones are especially nice. That woman from the Sart really does wear hers well.
I think turbans are hard to pull it off but the lady in the last picture have a devil-may-care attitude with her perfectly toned down casual outfit. It's a great statement piece.
Missoni's ads are beautiful, I love the colors and the florals turbans are so elegant ! I'm amazed at Agathe's style, she wears it perfectly..
I really miss Agathe. Thanks for posting these photos...
Very interesting.
I could never pull this off like Agathe!
Thanks for the anniversary well wishes!
I love those shots you chose of Agathe. The Missoni photos are so beautiful to look at!
Hmm I don't know that I want to buy a turban, but a straw hat, definitely! I'm always looking for one.
Though Agathe does wear the turban exceptionally well
I love missoni!! Their fall season was fantastic. And I love the turban look.. although I'm not sure I'd do it haha.
By the way, I tagged you on the proximity award =) You've probably gotten a ton of awards already but I just wanted to thank you for being such awesome inspiration!
i just found your blog, and i love it. you have such great personal style xo
missoni has such great fabrics and patterns...and
turbans are cool .. it's good they are back. the other day i was looking some old burda magazines from the 70's and there they were showing how to make it..it's actually easy!!!
xoxo
I always worried about Agathe; I hope things are going well for her.
The turbans not so much, especially the last pair which looks like a bike helmet. That gold eyeshadow is quite something though.
i love the turban!!! i wish i owned one / wouldn't look incredibly ridiculous in one! lol.
oh and i would be forever grateful if you linked me =D
I've actually never seen Virgin Suicides...should probably get around to that :-)
TURBANS= EPIC. still waiting for the right one!
@Anonymous, if you're a mild Agathe stalker (like myself) there's a very recent interview from her here: http://www.dn.no/d2/article1593599.ece
It's in Norweigan, but you can translate it step by step...it talks above the end of her marriage and many of the reasons she stopped blogging...
oh, Agathe. She's the first blogger i followed, and wondering how is she now? Where is she now? Still on Stockholm? I miss her. Hope someday she'd blog again.
Now I kind of want one.
Taht was possibly my favourite Prada collection to date. The turbans had alot to do with it. xx
oooh...turbans = love! But I think I probably couldn't pull the look off.
And yea, I will take pictures in the Netherlands. I actually live and study there and I just went home to Germany for my birthday :)
Turbans tend to be so costume-y, more so than any other accessory, methinks.
I've always wondered what happened to Agathe. I know the blogosphere was up in arms for a while, wondering if she was okay.
whats more feroish is the long cigarette!
puff puff
Oh, that Agathe girl looks absolutely fantastic!
I am totally loving the head wraps, and the bursts of colors here. You always pick the best!
I have 2 turbans (one black and one gray) which I got 2 years ago and I love them to death! I wear them only during the winter because they look more appropriate, as I'm not as fashion-forward as I like to think I am!
Though in the summer, making a turban out of a long silk or chiffon scarf is an easy and affordable way :)
Agathe, yes... I would have never suspected turbans could look good if it hadn't been for her.
A straw hat, on the other hand, especially a "nice" one is always a wonderful touch to a summer outfit. Can't wait to see you rock one.
xxxx
Lovely idea!
those are great ads - i still do love the idea of a turban!
love the pics from ATL!
I really like this look too. It reminds me of The Great Gatsby.
I am still our on the turban. Totally miss Stylebytes-she is the one that got me obsessed with this world. I can't wait for the day that you find a good turban for yourself.
The Missoni campaign was so beautiful, the colours were fantastic. And turbans look amazing, they are so unexpected, yet a beautiful headpiece. My mother used to wear colourful silk scarves wrapped up in turbans when cleaning lol.
I love the scanned images on the top. The turbans are so well done!
I've awarded and tagged you :)
Thank you, TCH; I have googled and come up with nothing. Off to read the interview now...
Well, that was sad. I put the url into google and translated it that way. I think I got the gist of it.
U look so really fashionable! I love Ur dress!
xoxo: Janet
these missoni ads are amazing. my mom had the best velvet turban from the 80's, i wish i could find it!!
dooot dooot doooot...i just came upon your blog by total accident and well, you've got a real engaging thing going and you're so cute to boot! i can't wait to spend my time reading away!
