All Wrapped Up

I recently spotted these scans of Missoni ads on Foto Decadent and they reminded me that I still like a good turban--and I hope to eventually hunt the perfect one down (along with a nice straw hat).
Agathe of the no longer running Stylebytes rocked a turban like no one else.
Prada's spring 2007 RTW collection was rife with jewel-toned and satin-y turban goodness.
The Sartorialist snapped this lady re-mixing her turban in possibly the most elegant, modern incarnation to date.

Hmm, I was actually just thinking about posting on the Sart and Missoni pics, but it wouldn't have occured to me to put them together. I love a good jewel-toned turban

I always loved Agathe's turban, she wore it so well! Oh, I miss Agathe!

P.S. Thank you for reminding me that the word for "colorful fan thingies" are pinwheels when you commented on my last post! I couldn't remember that word for the life of me.

agathe's style is amazing and she really is one of very few people who can make this look SO great.

I have a rose colored 1920s inspired turban that I've been trying to figure out how to wear for a while now. Still not sure!

When the turban first came I wasn´t too fond of it, but I think it´s growing on me... Some things need time :)

Those ads are wonderful, so colourful and lively. The turban is actually a really good way to keep hair off the face during summer...i like using pretty scarfs when i tan.

I miss Style Bytes :(

I love turbans! The printed Missoni ones are especially nice. That woman from the Sart really does wear hers well.

I think turbans are hard to pull it off but the lady in the last picture have a devil-may-care attitude with her perfectly toned down casual outfit. It's a great statement piece.

Hmm I don't know that I want to buy a turban, but a straw hat, definitely! I'm always looking for one.
Though Agathe does wear the turban exceptionally well

I love missoni!! Their fall season was fantastic. And I love the turban look.. although I'm not sure I'd do it haha.
By the way, I tagged you on the proximity award =) You've probably gotten a ton of awards already but I just wanted to thank you for being such awesome inspiration!

I always worried about Agathe; I hope things are going well for her.

The turbans not so much, especially the last pair which looks like a bike helmet. That gold eyeshadow is quite something though.

@Anonymous, if you're a mild Agathe stalker (like myself) there's a very recent interview from her here: http://www.dn.no/d2/article1593599.ece
It's in Norweigan, but you can translate it step by step...it talks above the end of her marriage and many of the reasons she stopped blogging...

oh, Agathe. She's the first blogger i followed, and wondering how is she now? Where is she now? Still on Stockholm? I miss her. Hope someday she'd blog again.

oooh...turbans = love! But I think I probably couldn't pull the look off.

And yea, I will take pictures in the Netherlands. I actually live and study there and I just went home to Germany for my birthday :)

Turbans tend to be so costume-y, more so than any other accessory, methinks.

I've always wondered what happened to Agathe. I know the blogosphere was up in arms for a while, wondering if she was okay.

I am totally loving the head wraps, and the bursts of colors here. You always pick the best!

I have 2 turbans (one black and one gray) which I got 2 years ago and I love them to death! I wear them only during the winter because they look more appropriate, as I'm not as fashion-forward as I like to think I am!

Though in the summer, making a turban out of a long silk or chiffon scarf is an easy and affordable way :)

Ida said...

Agathe, yes... I would have never suspected turbans could look good if it hadn't been for her.

A straw hat, on the other hand, especially a "nice" one is always a wonderful touch to a summer outfit. Can't wait to see you rock one.

The Missoni campaign was so beautiful, the colours were fantastic. And turbans look amazing, they are so unexpected, yet a beautiful headpiece. My mother used to wear colourful silk scarves wrapped up in turbans when cleaning lol.

I love the scanned images on the top. The turbans are so well done!
