I picked up a Madeleine L'Engle novel from the library to give me comfort whilst I hide away indoors. Someone who read the book before me made little notations throughout: answers to questions, asterisks, and scribbled musings. I feel as if that reader was in dialog with the author and now I'm eavesdropping...library books can have so much character.

gorgeous outfits, that coat is so amazing!!!
that's the coolesst thing with those books. i always wanted to open one up with someone's notes written in the margins.
Madeleine L'Engle is such an insightful woman. I'm reading Walking on Water again, and she shows me something new each time I read it.
Also, the butterfly dress is adorable.
i buy books at thrift stores for the same reason. another question — are you LDS? I was surprised to see your CTR ring there, as I've been a long-time reader of your blog and never noticed it!

I love dresses and I love your dresses to ^_^
Kisses from Spain
I love that ASOS dress! That's funny about the library book; my husband is reading a library book that also has some notations in it - mostly little frowning faces at some of the word choices. He thought I did it. Haha!
love your outfits, especially the dress in the first pictures:)
i have those same argyle tights from target. it seems like i got them years ago because i can remember wearing them to my office job at the time and having a lot of attention drawn to myself for it.
i remember reading a poem about library books once, and the notes in them... i wish i remembered the title.
i loove both outfits, i think they're my favorite i've seen so far! the bug dress is adorable and the white vest and print jacket on a black dress, so sophisticated!
gorgeous outfits as always =) I love butterflies! and I'm totally locking myself indoors too all that snow and wind outside is like AHHHHH!!!
Nice outfits!
Those kinds of books are even more fun to read through.
dont you love books like that? my grandma used to do the same then pass them on- it was like having our own book club :)
i love the lepoard coat- lovely!
thanks, i'll check the fruits books.
mxx
The print of that top dress is stunning! I love your ring as well. Great outfits and photos as always x
I love library books. My mom saw me writing in one the other day and she couldn't understand when I explained the idea of adding to a book and having a conversation with other readers. Possibly the library doesn't understand either.
I love the first dress and the bow in your hair. The cheetah coat is fabulous, too.
Absolutely beautiful post, as always. I love your tights!
cute dress and signature jewelry!
wow your dress is lovely! and I love the colour of your nailpolish too! ^-^
I love Madeline L'Engle and library books. I checked out a book of hers, Walking on Water. It was so profound and one of my favorite things I've read.
whoops, I was logged in as my magazine email! That last comment was mine.
your hair is adorable.
Please can I have your first dress with the butterflies? amazing.
x
I love when your wear this dress..Your necklace is pretty sweet ! I like a lot when books have notations from other readers..
I love everytime you wear that butterfly dress, it's so cute/pretty/gorgeous/happy! All outfits are gorgeous!
I don't think I've ever borrowed a book with 'added dialogue', I like the idea of it ;) Must find a novel by Madeleine L'Engle at my local library, I'm always on the lookout for new authors to read :)
xx
The dress you are wearing in the first picture is adorable!!!!
Cheers!

i realllllly love these pieces, you have a really great blog!
great outfits! the leopard print coat and vest are lovely on you :)
and what an exciting find for a library book! it's like discovering another person's thoughts.
I love coming across library books like that. I've got to admit in some books, I've written the odd comment too...
Love all your outfits but that first dress is amazing. Love how your camera captured your hair in that 5th photo!
i love your first dress! its so cute. and that last photo of the book page quote except thing is so beautiful, but really sad. i love it.
xoxo,
Micaela
I love that butterfly dress so so much! Wow! So cute!!
I love when people write in library books.
I always enjoy reading margin notes. It sometimes does feel like eavesdropping, but in a harmless way :)
The more delicate mugs that I shared in my post(the sailboat & the green floral ones) will probably end up as vases. I think I'd rather just admire them than use them.
P.S. Great interview in your last post!
Oh library books are so special, I love the smell of them. and imagining how many other people have found joy within the pages you are turning. Love it! xx
I'm glad you posted where you got that fantastic necklace; I kept meaning to ask! I will definitely be trawling the Swap Meet tomorrow looking for something similar. ;)
I tend to write comments in the margins of books, too. It makes me feel more engaged with the material, like a dialogue, as you say.
Thanks for the comment, by the by! I have a tendency to speak/write like my 90 year old great aunt. It makes me think I was Southern and elderly in a past life.
i love library books, so much character and stories within each book. most of all, i love the smell
Fabulous! ... Love love love your outfits.
HAHAhaha I know those years .. ooooh.
i love the first dress with the butterflies...
i love the ring and the necklace. soooo pretty darn cute like you!
I love the butterfly print halter dress. And the shot of Nasha in red sunglasses in your sidebar? Too cute!
Love the dress! If you're a religion-sensitive person, though, it'd be useful to note that the ring is a choose the right ring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choose_the_right).
I also love your white nail polish! It is white, yes?
I love books like that!
Anyhow i love your jewelleries! :)
Unfortunately I've never come across notes in a library book that was quite as clever as yours.
I cannot get enough of your ASOS dress. It is halter turtle-necked perfection.
I looove that dress! These photos are great.
I wish I had some sweet textile industry hook-ups for you, but alas, I do not. I just think you'd be really good at it.
I see that some others have already mentioned the CTR ring. I was raised Mormon, and I wore my CTR ring until I stopped, um... choosing the right. = )
i love that about library books too. sometimes books are more than the sum of their words. also, i love that asos dress. it looks wonderful on you!
adore the dress a lot..i want one!!!!!!
and those tights are delish! =)
xoxo
Hello sugar, I haven't commented in a while because I've had trouble loading the images on your page. But today it worked!
Beautiful dress, the print is perfection.

I love that butterfly dress. You look gorgeous in it.
I hate windy weather. it makes my hair all messy!
I got inspired by your leopard print jacket and got my first leopard item last week, still trying to figure out what to wear with it though.
xx
Love the jewellery especially the jade coloured tooth,
and patterned tights (I am going to be wearing alot more this winter)
That butterfly dress is amazing (I am totally in love!)...
I used to get tons of books from the library when I still lived in Germany. Once, a postcard that someone had used as a bookmark fell out of one of the books I had borrowed. It was sent from Paris showing the cookie monster as Mona Lisa haha
love that whimiscal dress and that library book is priceless
haha, love the book!
The printed dress is wonderful!
A wonderfully dramatic post! That library book sounds amazing.
Ok, so I don't want this to sound creepy or anything, but I've been reading your blog for a while now, and I've only just gotten the courage to comment you!
I really love all your clothes and posts, they're so interesting and chic.
Your butterfly dress is so wonderful and pretty! And you're really making me wish I'd taken my leopard fur coat with me to university now. x
Gorgeous outfits. I love library books, especially their smell.
That ring of yours is lovely.
I love the dress you're wearing in the first picture :)... and the leopard coat.
the leopard coat is to die for. ;)
Drop-dead gorgeous, that leo coat of yours.
♥ Dotti
I've always envied that Asos dress of yours! And that leopard print coat looks amazing on you. :)
I also like the note that was left in the Madeleine L'Engle book you picked up from the library. That's the great thing about the library - all the books you check out have so much history ans so many previous users! As a library intern/student, I know I should frown upon it, but I secretly like finding those little notes that people leave behind.
Books with notes are just so beautiful..
I have never seen anyone look as cute as you do in a leopard coat before:)
i adore annotations in library books; sadly, my faculty library now threatens to ban anyone caught 'defacing' one of their books. it's a real shame, there has been many a time when the calmhush of a library has been broken me chuckling over some marginal note.
and the description of it as eavesdropping is spot on. it's really cool to see how someone else, someone unknown, responded to the same words and ideas as you're reading.
I love these photos! Some of my favourite outfits from you! And I love that in books, so revealing.
x
I love that dress and the leopard print coat!
What an amazing dress... I love the butterfly print!
@delightedly,
Yes, the nail polish is white. Also, I know what the ring stands for. Personally I'm Baptist, so it's not our motto, but it's not one I am against. I merely wear it because I find it visually appealing.
That is one of my favourite books ever! I always make notations in my books- even the library ones. Though people will probably think I'm crazy if they read my comments! Love the outfit too!
Man! that coat is something out of my dreams and the dress is so stunning!
I love your nails!

We have the same wind here, Rebecca. Terrible, mean, biting. I used to loooove Madeleine L'engle. My best friend and I checked out all her books from the library and would each read one, then switch.
That dress with the butterfly print is so great!
LOVE the coat!! when will forever21 decide to start shipping to italy??
Previously annotated books make such interesting reading, I love to cover mine with pencil markings
Hmm.. do unborn babies cry? Maybe not, because they're enclosed in this nice little warm comfy bubble :)
Oh, how I love your leopard print jacket.. And with white gloves! How lovely!
I love to read small notes in the margins, that's why I love buying books second hand. It's just like you said, like eavesdropping. Or similar to how you find a letter that is not adressed to you, or a note, or someone elses diary....
That dress is superb, love it!
I suddenly remembered why I love library books :)
Great dresses and tights!
Such sweet animal prints! The leopard jacket is beyond lovely...and that butterfly dress is one of my favorites of yours.
Notes on books are a magic things, I love them as much as I love found photographs...you could build a whole story starting from them.
i saw the ctr ring and panicked for a second thinking you were mormon until i scrolled back up to see that it was found. that's the classic version of the ctr ring that they always give to kids. it stands for choose the right, in case you didn't know. mine always turned my hand green.
