For All The Graphemes

While I don't think I'm a grapheme or color synesthete, I do strongly associate with colors. For now, let's just call me a color fan. I love the interaction between certain colors. One of the first things I notice in another person is color: color of their eyes, shade of their shoes, tone in their skin, etc. When I dig through memories they come through tinted as if I viewed them through shaded glasses. All color theory fascinates me; such as how certain shades can make people physically uncomfortable, why others are popular for branding, etc. Color really affects and drives us subconsciously.
Outside of all this, when the weather stays grey and cold (in this part of the world) we need to bring some colorful illustrations to ourselves from other sources. For me, it is coming from the aptly titled editorial "Colour Story," photographed by Miles Aldridge and featuring the lovely Hye Park. I found this Chinese Vogue editorial from 2006 through foto_decadent.

Gorgeous spread, what a treat - I'm wearing COLOUR every day this week - a splash on my feet today, all out spring tomorrow, and will post the outfits by end of week.

Though I love grey, it can certainly be overload when the weather is grey too. I think bright or sumptuous colors can really brighten your mood. Just now I get a kick out of looking at my pink satin flats!

Those bright colors really pop against their white skin. Incredible photos, indeed.

I can see why you are fascinated, and the editorial is so beautiful! A few years ago, I read about the colour business; the company that had the right to so, so many of the colours we are able to imagine. It was quite fascinating, too bad I cannot find it again :)

Wow! This is the first time I see a chinese Vogue editorial, and the models are so stunning. I like the old feel the pictures have.

'Decadent' sums up those photos perfectly. Oh my, they're stunning. You should watch the film 'Les parapluies de Cherbourg' if you haven't - it's a great film for a 'color fan' as you put it! I adore colour on clothes and love seeing how you wear it, whilst personally veering towards grey... I vote that grey is still a legitimate colour! x

I often feel that Korean Women are the most beautiful of all in this world...

But I can be glad that most women are beautiful in their own way, no matter what they look like, solely because they are women.

I love these shots.. but I don't know how i feel about the bluish wash of the skin in contrast with such rich, saturated hues.

Wow what an editorial, gorgeously sumptuous colours. I adore the lilac nails in the pink photo. The white make up is stunning against the colour.

Wellingtonians have a love affair with black and neutral colours. I think it comes from the fact that it's the capital and there's a lot of public servants around. I dislike it. Black is always such a cop-out for me.

Beautiful editorial. Have you looked at Josef Albers' color studies? Also, Rothko did great things with color.

amazing shots. ive always found myself drawn to intense colour myself, my room kind of looks like these pictures actually. i love it but some people think its a bit much.
im also SO fascinated by colour synesthesia. its amazing (i wish i was one) i saw this crazy documentary about this 'savant' named Daniel Tammet is a genious and also has synesthesia (and unlike most 'savants' he is able to communicate normaly and has actually taught himself a bunch of languages as well). i forget the exact name of the documentary but it has really cool visuals and its just really interesting to learn about...haha wow totally not fashon related but im a total neard when it comes to this kind of stuff and i thought maybe youd find it interesting as well

This editorial reminds me of the movie "In The Mood for Love", both are quite lovely.
I feel very similarly about color. Looking at a certain color puts me in a relative mood.
Also, Hitchcock was very particular when it came to using certain colors to evoke mood and symbolic concept. I think it was very apparent in "The Birds".
