Who Cares About The Men

Forget all the backstabbing girls on television, if you want inspiration look no further than a real woman. If you ask me, these ladies do steal the show on AMC's Mad Men (obsession du jour for the likes of Michael Kors). Joan Holloway knows how to live in a man's world, so I'm guessing she'd do even better in our day and age...

Joan is seriously the best part of that show. I'm always disappointed because she doesn't have much screentime.

I still haven't got round to watching this, even though judging by the screencaps the fashion looks amaaazing.

Ooh, I haven't heard of this show before, but I love the stills! Love the hair colour, the confident stance/clothes & vibrant colours. Will have to look it up ;)

I've heard the show is brilliant but from these pictures the styling is too. I can see you wearing such outfits.

Mad Men may be the greatest show of all time, and although it's more than just the amazing styling and sets, they definitely add to it.

Oh! I just started watching this show on ctv.ca under their video player (although I don't know if Americans can watch it.) They have both seasons on there and I absolutely love it!! I'm soo intrigued by the way women are treated. I am so happy that things have changed so much since that time.

I've never seen the show, but the name Joan has been making its way around the fashion blogosphere, and I can definitely see why!

I'm so smitten with this show. Now that the second season is over, there's really nothing on TV that I want to watch. Joan's wardrobe is spectacular but now that Peggy has had her "make-over" she's pulling ahead. And Betty's day dresses and riding gear are nothing to sneeze at. But what I really, really want... is Pete's apartment!

Weird coincidence but I've been watching Mad Men continuously for the last few weeks (I've been hooked since I started with the first episode!) and have been planning on writing about it because the clothes are amazing! Joan just makes me want to be fabulously curvaceous with a tiny waist and buy loads of tight vintage wiggle dresses and flirt unashamedly with men. But I love Betty's clothes too - more late 50s style with huge full skirts. I love the way all the women have perfectly styled hair and perfect make-up with red lipstick. Sometimes I wish I lived in a time like that where everyone made an effort and you don't look out of place when you're all dressed up. But I guess I'd get tired of it and there'd be days when I just wanted to wear jeans too!

Also asking whether or not this is a good show. What exactly is it about? I love the styling for sure!

Never heard from this before. She reminds me to a younger Bree Hodge from Desperate Housewives ☺

Hey hon, love your blog! Just wanted to tell you the idiom is "day and age" not "day in age". Don't know if you care either way, just thought you should know.

Ah, finally a show with vintage clothes that may make younger women want to dress in wiggle dresses and not midrift tops with doc martins and cutoffs!

Mad Men is seriously the best drama series I've ever seen. Everyone is so heartbreakingly stylish it makes me yearn for the old days where people didn't just walk around in flip flops and ratty jeans...

She certainly knows her way around the office.

I absolutely adore her character and her clothes. The Vancouver Sun paper just did an article about her and in the picture she was wearing jeans. It seemed so wrong...

I have not watched this yet , but I'll check it out!
Also my dear I wanted to let you know that I have awarded you on my blog. Go see :)

She is my favorite character of that show. In season 2 though she gets to do what's known as 'man's work then she has to give it up.. now that was quite painful to watch which would be completely impossible in this day and age. That show is a great source of getting some idea of gender inequality and to know the way things were done for/to women... incredible.

Mad Men is perfection, pure perfection.

I just rented disk one of season one and this show is great. The way the men treat the women is terrible, but really not that much has changed it is just less blatant now.
Joan's character is a tough cookie, and absolutely beautiful.

hmm...I heard so many good things about Mad Men maybe I'll have to rent season 1 as well. she looks great!

I am suprised how many of your readers aren't familiar with this very fashionable show. . .your photo collage on Joan is wonderful. I love the wardrobe for this series~~ladies looking ladies and men looking like gentlemen. I'd like to bring back the fashions to our modern offices~~everything is far too casual today and it is relfected in poor work ethics and a lack of self confidence at times. Great post!

joan holloway is great in the show! being a red head myself, and more curvy, she was automotically my favorite! But she is wicked beyond words! Have I mentioned that she wears a mean dress!
