Darker Than A Moonless Night

It maybe the lengthening nights, my ongoing fascination with vampires, or just a general mourning for the end of a season, but whatever the reason I am increasingly drawn to all black ensembles. While this might be typical of many people, readers of my blog should certainly be aware it is not normal for me. Remeber this, this, or this, hm?
Whatever the cause, these are my inspirations. Style mavericks snapped by Facehunter, the Sartorialist, and Hel-looks, respectively.
Let's not forget some runway inspirations either. My favorites are Christian Lacroix, Christian Dior, and Jean Paul Gaultier.

The shiny shirt in look three is amazing. I'm also loving the cut of it!

John Galliano is such a genius! His collection for Christian Dior's collection was just unreal!

I don't think I could picture you in all black for some reason...I agree that it not 'normal' for you... :)

Yeah me too! I also find myself drawn to more simple pared down outfits and muted colours black, grey, navy. And haven't been doing any outfit blogging because its all so simple. But thats what I need right now - its a kind of calm after the riot of colour and fuss of ruffles and accessories. I don't know why - maybe its the season, the weather or just my current frame of mind.

I love the girl in the first picture. The shapes coming out of the folds in her jacket are amazing!

some say I should stop wearing black and go with some colours but with my dark eye and hair colour black is the best whether it's winter or summer.

I shall show you my black soon! :)

I could not bring myself to wear black for the longest time because of having to wear it every day to school! Now I'm being drawn to it again! I love the photo from The Sartorialist! :o)

I love total black as much as I love colors...it just depends on the mood (total black when I feel seductive!!!)

Recently I've ventured into all-black territory, something I've never done before. It feels strange . . . but powerful.

I like you in colors, R. But I'd be fascinated to see what you did with all-black.

I think sometimes the secret with doing all black is mixing materials and textures, and even shades of black, like a faded black with a dark jet black. Done right all black can be incredible, but other times I think it just looks dull. ;)

Thanks for your comment dear. I'm sorry that past hurts have kept you from trusting, I understand, though as much as trusting can hurt, I think it's usually worth it. <3 Also I think it is so amazing how your mother and sisters used to explore abandoned homes, sadly, my mom and sister don't have that same kind of adventourous and curious spirit as I do!

I LOVE black. I'm wearing all black today and I feel so incognito/artistic, especially since I had a photo shoot this morning. Leibovitz always wears black. anyway, I never, ever get tired of wearing all black. it's so classy and, I'm sorry, black and my red hair look amazing together. There. I said it.

If you like vampires, I hope that you will consider reading the Twilight series of novels, if you haven't read them already. They were the best books I've read in recent years. I'm seeing ads for a new movie based on the first book that will be opening soon, and it looks pretty exciting.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Greece.

I think all black ensembles are so great. They're flattering on anyone if done right. Thanks for the inspiration. ^^

All black simply looks quite pulled together and très chic. I've actually been on a color binge (for me) recently but I feel the black slowly creeping back in.

If I had more black things, I think I would wear all black every day.

On another note, the word maverick has made me hysterical ever since Sarah Palin came about..

I'm really feeling black at the moment too, although its not as fun as colours, its good to play with textures in black...

Me too! I know I'm just being a trendy McTrendster but I just can't get enough of all things black, leather, spiked and fierce!

There's something about wearing black that makes me feel more enigmatic.

All these black ensembles look absolutely incredible. I never feel comfortable wearing black, I can't put my finger on why but it makes me feel dowdy in a way perhaps? That I'm too short to wear all black? I don't know, but I can't pull it off as well as these people can that's for sure!

I just love the picture of the girl with the bangs..! I can understand that you feel drawn to black outfits. It always depends on the season most mostly my mood if I want to go all black or not.

The years I spent being a teenage rock chick left me with a small obsession for all-black ensembles so this post hits close to home. The Lacroix collection is beautiful!

I wish I could wear those black-gothic styled outfits, but unfortunately, it's 24F in Detroit and bitingly cold with snow piling up on the side of the roads. I guess I'm screwed. :(
