Seasonal Splendor

I sit here in my little apartment, the glass door leading to my balcony is standing open to allow the balmy, breeze and sounds from the street filter up to my room. It is warm and sunny and sense of time and seasons are fading from my conscious. I am aware that if I were in the States right now I would be visually assaulted with the holiday advertisements that are in full swing this time of year--in fact before I left I witnessed Halloween and Thanksgiving items creep their way onto the shelves and tasted a few too many Candy Korn flavored Hershey Kisses to feel entirely well...
This tends to be my favorite time of year, not for the weather, but for all the silly little excuses to celebrate. Only the Internet, really keeps me connected to a wider world of activity and occasions.
Thanks to Facehunter, I am longing for a fur hat (and the appropriate weather to wear it in). Last year, I went in a bit of a tizzy searching for vintage hats on eBay and ended up with this haul. Instead of avoiding bidding wars by purchasing hats in the summer, I of course wait again until the season is nigh...
Krisatomic always delights me with her posts, but these sketches in preparation for her Christmas cards are especially endearing at the moment. She makes me want to pull out a pen and get to drawing myself, whilst sucking on a candy cane.

In a way you're kinda lucky to not have to worry about all the "holiday assault". But I think if I were away, I'd always be a little sad to not see all the stuff around me. Then again, it must be nice to experience the seasons/holidays in an entirely new place. And candy korn flavored kisses? Ew! :)

Wow that white hat is amazing. I imagine if it rained though it would make it really dirty.

ah i feel your pain.

i am devoid of all fall festivites.

changing leaves...fall walks through the river-valley... thanksgiving...halloween...chunky scarfs+knits. and the perfect weather to bundle up in until it becomes ice-land.

ahhhh.

i love it here in South Africa. But i miss our 4 distinct seasons in Canada.

ahhh that breeze sounds blissful...

Homesickeness sucks, but at least you won't get any flu as there is too warm for that.

Cute cute little drawings!
Here in the UK we don't make much of Halloween- but we do have all the christmas gift sets in the shops already!

I couldn't think of anything better than avoiding the lead up to the holiday insanity. If it wasn't 30 degrees during our christmas I might be inclined buy on of those fur hats to pull down over my face.

Don't worry, you'll be home soon enough for the cool and electric snap of winter... right?

I also want a fur hat, and here in Norway it's so cold you sometimes do need it. But, the main reason I want one is because they are adorable, warm and a bit eccentric.

I love this time of the year too. It's till not freezing, it's perfect for busting out the colored tights and you can have a little happy festivity each day. What can be better? :)

A.) I adore that girl's entire outfit. It looks warm, yet still so sophisticated. Where I come from everyone stays warm and there is absolutely no sophistication.
B.)I want his bag.

It looks like you are having the time of your life, doll! You are like the sister of the travelling fashion.

i too am searching for the perfect winter hat! having a small head and short hair makes this quite a challenge, but hats are an absolute necessity in illinois winters!

I've always wanted a fur hat but I thought it might look silly here in the Australian winter, I might give it a try next year :)

And those are some gorgeous headpieces you bought! So beautiful!

Hats in general mess up my hair, but those ones you got last year are so cute! I'm been feeling way too much pressure to dress for the weather lately.. I much prefer summer!

that white fur hat looks so pristine! i think i have a hat like that somewhere in my house but of brown colouring. haha it smells odd though.

Ugh, the Facehunter does it again. I never even realize I want something until he takes an amazing pic of someone remarkably stylish wearing it--not that I give in too easily to such trends. I love the drawings, too.

I want a fur hat too, a big one! But maybe I have enough of fake fur by the moment with my jackets, hat (that's is not that big) and scarf...

Christmas will come in Greece too. Just without Halloween and Thanksgiving in between. Maybe knowing this will unexpectedly make you long for them. Homesick yet?

those hats are impressive. I don't know if I'd dare to wear them tough.
