Several people have asked me about the style in Greece and well, I haven't answered them really. It's hard for me to answer these questions because I am not an authority, merely an outsider looking in. Also, can one really summarize any nation's "style" when at the end of the day we are all individuals. Other than I believe that Greeks dress better than Americans (I only see flip flops on my fellow foreign students), I can't really explain or describe differences. There is a street fashion site for Athens, called
AthensWears--so perhaps those who are interested can seek more information there. No promises, but I will try to vocalize what I think style differences might be towards the end of my trip and perhaps throw in a couple of sneakily taken "street fashion" pics.

oooh! i like your headphones!
Good to see the local flavour (plastic shopping bag). AthensWears site is really cool. Thanks for that.
It's funny you mentioned flip flops since for us in Europe it has kind of become the trademark of an american...recognizable at once!;)
However I have to say that I'm also sometimes wearing flip-flops in summer, and I'm european ;o). Anyway, I think I know what you mean, american tourists usually are recognizable from far!
But let us know: where did you get those headphones???
How gorgeous are your headphones?!?
Cool yellow shoes. I used to follow AthensWear, but it updated so rarely (maybe once in a month) that i got bored and put it to a rest.

Your headphones look so cool!
Love both your outfits :]
And I wish it was still warm enough here to have bare legs, rather than the current need for stockings all the time...haha
i love how you said you can't really sum up a nations style, let alone an individual.
i truly believe each person carries their own sense of style from both the inside and out. and since we are all different + unique, to judge or generalise is extremely difficult! I think everyone is special.
oh my. i hope i don't sound like a nerd.
i truly just admire everyone.
i hope you're having a beautiful week.
x.
loving your pendants collection dear... nice grouping & the bright color sunglasses is fab...
Great outfits. Especially love the 2nd one, but only because I adore dresses.
So casual but you pimped it with these lovely accesoires.I admire the necklaces, creamy peep toe flats and leo headphones ☺
the flower and the headphone combi is awesome ;)
As one of those people who has asked about street fashions, thanks for the referral. I'll check out Athens Wears. It looks like you are having a great time there. Back here in southern Ohio, my thoughts are often on the problems with the economy, and working to make ends meet. It seems like it would be so nice to go off to a foreign country and get away from it all.
A few years ago, I went to Hungary for a month by myself. It was great at first, but after a few weeks I got tired of sight seeing and became more anxious to get home. One thing that helped me get through those times was finding a book store that carried a few novels in English. Just a suggestion for something you might look into if you start to feel homesick.
the last pic is my favorite...i love the details of the necklace and your glasses.
Love the shoes and flower in your first outfit! I wish I could wear shoes like that. But, at least I can live vicariously through you!

The headphones are so cute! Love the necklaces too.
The headphone is so cool
Your realization that greeks don't have a distinct style or one that could be described in a few words, reminded me that when you asked me the same question I wasn't really able to answer.
Oh, and I agree with Juliet above, I was very happy when I discovered AthensWears a while ago, but I soon realized it wasn't your typical street style blog and also was rarelly updated, so I gave up on it.
I love the yellow shoes, by the way.
I must know where you got those headphones from. As a muso, I am very much into headphones and things of that nature and these are just so awesome!
