Athens Fashion Week...Or Day

I'm endlessly grateful to Lopi of Fashion Architect who snagged me a backstage pass for Thursday of Athens Fashion Week. It was a fantastic night and a wonderful thrill to get so close to designers, models, and fashion. Meeting a fellow blogger in person was also fantastic and she was sweet enough to let me pick her brain about Greek fashion and blogging. Being so close to the runway (front row at one show) definitely gives things a different perspective: from unshaven legs, to visible panty lines, every flaw on the models did show. I had a lot of sympathy for them with all the flash bulbs and sky rocketing heels.
The first show was Katerina Karoussos which featured dramatic hats and retro silhouettes. I really like the ladylike feel of the collection and am now completely convinced that I will own and wear a straw hat someday.
Next up was Frida Karadima where we stole seats that were labeled for others and I'm so glad we did, because this was probably my favorite collection. Gauzy, white dresses full of air and movement were contrasted with neon accessories and details running throughout. It was a nice balance of elements and really just a fun show to watch.
Elena Strongyliotu was a myriad of influences from equestrian, to futuristic at times, and a focus on the play between leather and silk. It was a gorgeous collection and again I was enthralled by the shoes.
I was able to catch one more collection by Katerinalexandraki which I'm certain the club kids of NYC would love, but wasn't exactly my cup of tea. I also completely failed at getting proper pictures of this collection.
Be certain to check out Fashion Architect for her view of the evening and other snippets of Athens Fashion Week.

How cool is that! There's no stopping in having fashion fun where ever you are. You must have really enjoyed the energy and glitzy of that although the collection may not have been your thing. :)
